As Gen Z and Millennials are becoming the new face of the world, Ideologies around the most taboo subjects keep on evolving. Such remains the topic of swimwear for the Indian market. We lived in a society where a woman had restrictions and letting her skin show was considered a sign of disrespect. We try to fit into the norms set by society that we often lose our voice. Norms like how we dress and how our body should look have driven this society for ages but now, changemakers are trying to change these norms with their new mindsets. Esha Lal is the owner of an environmentally conscious swimwear and resort wear brand and has taken it upon herself to bring to India, a line of superior quality swimwear. Based in Bombay for 13 years, she has worked hard to have her brand. After doing a small course in swimwear in Barcelona, she decided to start her brand when she saw a rise in the demand for swimwear, locally made in India. “Honestly, I don’t have an education in fashion, I just went for it hoping for the best,” says Esha.
