Fox TheatreDetroit’s crown jewel, the Fox Theatre, was built in 1928 and was purchased by theIlitch Family in 1987. Upon their purchase, the Ilitches renovated the 4,800-plus-seat venuewhich re-opened in 1988 as the hub of the Foxtown Entertainment District. The Fox, whichalso houses the offices of Olympia Entertainment and Little Caesars Pizza, holds its groundas one of the top-grossing theatres of its size in the country.The Fox has played host to some of the greatest names in entertainment, including Prince,Bob Dylan, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Florence + The Machine and more. City TheatreOne of Detroit’s small theatre gems, the intimate City Theatre is located in the heart of theFoxtown Entertainment District, inside Hockeytown Cafe, next to the fabulous Fox Theatre.This 430-seat theatre opened in 2004 and has the unique atmosphere of an off-Broadwayhouse, right in the heart of the Motor City, hosting concerts, plays, comedy shows andmore.As a smaller venue, the City Theatre typically hosts more personal acts, but the intimatetheatre has also booked top-notch performers like Gary Hoey, Mike Posner, JaneaneGarofalo and more.
