Read my Thought The Art of storytelling Storytelling is the process of using fact and narrative to communicate something to your audience. Some stories are factual, and some are embellished or improvised in order to better explain the core message. Storytelling is an art form as old as time and has a place in every culture and society. Stories are a universal language that everyone — regardless of dialect, hometown, or heritage — can understand. Stories stimulate imagination and passion and create a sense of community among listeners and tellers alike. Why Do We Tell Stories? Sometimes to inspire, to educate, brag , entertain or even to send a message to the next generation. We’ve all experienced confusion when trying to understand a new idea. Stories provide a way around that. Think about times when stories have helped you better understand a concept perhaps a teacher used a real-life example to explain a math problem, a preacher illustrated a situation during a sermon, or a speaker used a case study to convey complex data The Components of a story are: ⮚ Character ⮚ Conflict ⮚ Resolution
What makes a good story? i. Spiral staircase A story must be ………. ii. The candles weren’t lit iii. Nothing Entertaining Educational Universal Organized Memorable Bewildering Facts ⮚ The story Alice in wonderland is based on a real 10 year old girl’s life. ⮚ Do you love the smell of old books ? Well you can call it “Bibliosmia”. Care for some riddles anyone ? i. I am long and I wind about. I always lead to a different story. What am I ? ii. There was a tornado. The power went out and the man went to his basement to take cover. As he was carrying the candles down the old wooden stairs, he tripped and the candles dropped on the stairs. Why didn’t the stairs catch the fire? iii. I am a 7 letter word. Children like me more than milk, poor people have me and rich people want me. If you eat me you will die but you like me more than your life.
Data Handling refers to the process of gathering, Example:- recording and presenting information in a way that is Q3.A teacher asked the students of her class to vote helpful to analyse and make the conclusion for their favorite color. The same has been recorded in the form of a bar graph. Observe the bar graph and Types of data handling identify the most liked and least liked the color. The two types of data handling are qualitative data and quantitative data. Quantitative data gives numerical information, while qualitative data gives descriptive information about anything. Steps involved in data handling Most liked color: Least liked color:
Tally Mark Let's Check your understanding Lets Try this :- Tally marks, also called hash marks, are a unary numeral system. They are a form of numeral used for counting. The general way of writing tally marks is as a group or set of five lines. The first four lines are drawn vertically ... How was TALLY MARK Invented • The first record existing of tally marks is on a leg bone of a baboon dating prior to 30,000 BC. • The bone has 29 clear notches in a row. • It was discovered in a cave in Southern Africa. • It is sometimes called the Lebombo Bone after the Lebombo mountains in which it was found How does tally mark work
What if there were no seasons on Earth? For many of us, the seasons tell us a lot — like what holiday is coming up or what delicious seasonal food there might be at the local grocery store. But what if there were no seasons? Well guess what? Our planet is divided into hemispheres, and each one gets a turn at being tilted toward the sun as the Earth spins on its axis. Without the Earth’s tilt, in addition to not having seasons, the same areas of the Earth would get the same amount of sunlight almost all the time. there’d be some significant weather changes. Science says that cold weather would stretch outward and upward from the Equator, creating two extremes of hot and cold. Winter can be unpleasant, even dangerous. But if there were no seasons and everyone decided to escape the winter weather ,we’d be missing out on a lot of help.Everyone would probably move toward the locations near the Equator where it’d be warmest. This would cause overpopulation, the spread of diseases not just from each other, but from insects too. There’d be lack of resources and lack of food. It would be very difficult to grow wheat, vegetables, or fruit. Animals, too, would move to those warm regions by the equator and would likely get over-hunted.There can be agricultural problems too as a lot of rain in those tropical climates can erode the soil, which pushes all the nutrients down below the root level making that farmland at least partially infertile. If enough food isn’t grown to sustain the increased population, more on later everyone would become scavengers hunting down every single resource from the land. To summarise this- If there were no seasons, there would be huge effects on the ecosystem and many of the plants and animals wouldn‘t survive and we would have to re-learn basic survival.
World Pulses Day World Pulses Day is celebrated on February 10 every year and recognized Pulses as a global food. Pulses, also known as legumes, are the edible seeds of leguminous plants cultivated for food. Dried beans, lentils, and peas are the most commonly known and consumed types of pulses. In 2019, the UN General Assembly decided to dedicate a day to Pulses to increase awareness and access to pulses globally known as World Pulses Day. On World Pulses Day, people make efforts in creating awareness about the importance of Pulses in sustainable food production. Donations of pulses are made to provide it to the people it is not easily accessible. World Pulses Day 2022 is under the theme “Pulses to empower youth in achieving sustainable agri-food systems”. Pulses provide proteins and fibres as well as significant source of vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc, folate and magnesium. We can enhance diet quality by increasing intakes of these nutrients. Pulse consumption improves serum lipid profiles and positively affects several other cardiovascular diseases, wrist factors such as blood pressure, platelet activity and inflammation. Thus, pulses are

AN UNFORGETTABLE TRIP! Just before the dreadful months of COVID-19 began, my family and I had an amazing tour to Coorg, Mysore and Ooty, because the best therapy is taking a break from routine! It’s really tough for me to describe my 8-day trip in limited words but I would like to mention few famous destinations like the Mysore Palace. I only knew about palaces through fairy tales and history, but seeing one in real life was a superb experience. I got to see both the interior and exterior of it and also the Light n’ Sound Show at night. The most remarkable features of it were the royal architecture, imperial past and the humongous crowd. Another outstanding destination was the Mysore Zoo. We spent whole day there! There were various animals that were unknown to me and we also had a staggering jeep safari. The fact that a lot of the animals there were endangered, highlighted the importance of saving animals. We saw many tea gardens while travelling to Ooty, and it enlivened me to have a real life experience of working there in tea-leaf collectors’ traditional clothing and accessories. Now, I’m waiting for the pandemic to end, because I’d like to have another break from routine!

Two of his most recent splendid performances are- CRR (French exam) with National rank 2, he received cash prize worth ₹21000 and FWP (French exam) - National rank 11. I had this amazing opportunity to have a word with Raghav and here is what he has to say… 1. Raghav, can you please tell us more about yourself. ⮚ I have been studying in Euroschool, Airoli since Jr. Kg. I follow cricket, football, basketball and kabbadi, no matter which part of the world it is being played. I like reading a lot. I also enjoy cooking. My favorite subjects are French and English. 2. How do you plan your study routine for the day? ⮚ My first priority is to complete my homework. Then I get to studies. Subjects like ICT which require more practical time are kept for the weekend. I practice maths on everyday basis. I divide the remaining subjects during the week, so I ensure I give ample time to all subjects. 3. How do you balance your time between school and preparation for external examinations? ⮚ We get to know the approximate time left for the external exam at the time of registration. Our school exams are also structured so we know approximate time of preparation. It is then a matter of working backwards and ensuring that the syllabus is completed. If I have decided to take up an external exam, then I prepare for it wholeheartedly.
4. How easy or difficult was it for you to prepare for French exam ⮚ I have always had a fascination for the French language right from when we started. Kanchi Ma’am has been a strong support to learn and develop the language. Her support is invaluable. It also helps that my mother has studied French and provides me with additional guidance. 5. How do you feel when you perform outstanding in an exam? ⮚ Like every other student, I feel very happy when I perform well in any exam. Though the name on the score sheet is mine but I feel a sense gratitude for everyone who support me to do well. 6. Would you like to share few tricks with our young students which will help them to ace in spell bee and IGKO like exams? ⮚ I begin the day mostly by reading the newspaper. That is a habit I picked up when I was very young. For me there is no substitute to reading. Reading the newspaper helps me to improve my vocabulary that helps in spell bee and updates me with current affairs that help me in IGKO. 7. Who is your role model and why? ⮚ My role model is my mother. I am inspired by the way she manages so well her multiple tasks. She helps me to plan my study, to prioritize my schedule and ensures I do justice to whatever I take up. She is my pillar of strength. 8. What do you aspire to be in the future? ⮚ Like any 11 year old, I want to do everything. Right now I aspire to be a chef or a writer. But I have not made up my mind yet. I will take things as they come and will make a choice when the time is right.

BIOINFORMATICS Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data, in particular when the data sets are large and complex. As an interdisciplinary field of science, bioinformatics combines biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, information engineering, mathematics and statistics to analyze and interpret biological data. Bioinformatics includes biological studies that use computer programming as part of their methodology, as well as specific analysis \"pipelines\" that are repeatedly used, particularly in the field of genomics. The aims of bioinformatics are three-fold. First, at its simplest bioinformatics organises data in a way that allows researchers to access existing information and to submit new entries as they are produced. The second aim is to develop tools and resources that aid in the analysis of data. Development of such resources dictates expertise in computational theory, as well as a thorough understanding of biology. The third aim is to use these tools to analyse the data and interpret the results in a biologically meaningful manner. Common uses of bioinformatics include the identification of candidate's genes and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Often, such identification is made with the aim to better understand the genetic basis of disease, unique adaptations, desirable properties (esp. in agricultural species), or differences between populations. In a less formal way, bioinformatics also tries to understand the organizational principles within nucleic acid and protein sequences, called proteomics. Bioinformatics has become an important part of many areas of biology. In experimental molecular biology, bioinformatics techniques such as image and signal processing allow extraction of useful results from large amounts of raw data.
In the field of genetics, it aids in sequencing and annotating genomes and their observed mutations. It plays a role in the text mining of biological literature and the development of biological and gene ontologies to organize and query biological data. It also plays a role in the analysis of gene and protein expression and regulation. Bioinformatics tools aid in comparing, analysing and interpreting genetic and genomic data and more generally in the understanding of evolutionary aspects of molecular biology. Applications of Bioinformatics – Bioinformatics is applied in Biotechnology, Alternative Energy Sources, Drug Discovery, Preventive Medicine, Biofuels, Plant Modelling, Gene Therapy, Waste Clean-up, etc. Bioinformatics has proven quite useful in medicine as the complete sequencing of the human genome has helped to unlock the genetic contribution for many diseases. Its applications include drug discovery, personalized medicine, preventative medicine and gene therapy. The applications that bioinformatics offer to the civilized world are more than just being a researcher's tool for structural and functional analysis. Development and implementation of computational algorithms and software tools facilitate an understanding of the biological processes with the goal to serve primarily agriculture and pharmaceutical sectors. In a developing country like India, Bioinformatics has a key role to play in areas like agriculture where it can be used for increasing notional content increasing the volume of the agriculture produce and implanting disease resistance etc. There are large number of applications of bioinformatics in the field of medicine, microbial genome application and agriculture. Using them will allow researchers to reach a new height in their experiments. Major discoveries can be made faster and more efficiently. Today every large molecular or systems biology project has a bioinformatics' component .Bioinformatics applications will allow biologist to extend expertise far more efficiently mad effectively for data analysis and planning of experiments.
