The Critically Endangered Mountain Gorilla Abbey Thigpen
Once upon a time... There were hundreds of thousands of mountain gorillas roaming the earth, now there is only 790 left.
Their habitat is limited to protected national parks in two regions of Africa. One group of gorillas lives in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The other group is spread over three national parks in the Virungas mountain region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Rwanda.
Why should I Care? One woman says that \"Seeing mountain gorillas in the wild is an incredible experience. I have wonderful memories of infant gorillas playing with each other and rolly-pollying down the mountain slopes.” These creatures are beautiful and gentle, and deserve our protection, not harm.
Gorillas in general are often very shy and reserved towards people, but become aggressive when are forced to do things for human wants. We disturb wildlife peace just because we think our lives have more value than animal lives, and that just isn’t the case.
My plan My plan of action to stop the rapid decrease of the mountain gorilla species is simple. The government must ban poachers from hunting in areas where the gorillas are known to live. We must take action and speak up for wildlife, all endangered wildlife. We must stay informed on what is being done to save the gorillas and take action when things go wrong.
In Conclusion... All animals, including mountain gorillas were put on this earth for a purpose. That purpose was not to be hunted, or put in zoos, or to be used for scientific testing. They are peaceful animals and they deserve peace. LEAVE THEM ALONE
