Meet the @CCISDIT Instructional Technology Team Cary Perales, Director Cary K. Perales, is the Director of Instructional Technology and has been with the district for 24 years. She has a passion for teacher professional development and after teaching, continued her career in the area of content coaching and pedagogy. Her current mission is to design a robust educator preparation program that will inspire the infusion of technology into everyday teaching and learning to impact student success. Cary Perales is proud to continue this work as the Director for the Office of Instructional Technology.
Lumio at Kostoryz Elementary Submitted by Jennifer Amaya, Librarian Mrs. Katherine Schumacher, 4th grade Lumio has been a game changer for teachers at Kostoryz Elementary, making instruction easier and more engaging. Fourth grade teacher Katherine Schumacher says, “I love how you can zoom in and out on the different sections of the interactive worksheet and how you can highlight and use the pen.”
Mrs. Katie Ruiz, Kindergarten Kindergarten teacher, Katie Ruiz appreciates how it provides students the opportunity to actively participate in the learning. “Students love coming up to the smartboard and annotating the documents and images.”
Mrs. Euranda Pierre Starks, 3rd grade Mrs. Pierre-Starks’ students love getting on Lumio where they can see the work clearly. “If students need to catch up, they can do so. They can customize how they see the work being presented. They love when they come up to the board that what they have written shows up on their peers' screens. And when we work on individual worksheets, it helps the students organize their work and makes their work legible for both teacher and student.”

Meet the @CCISDIT @mrwisner Instructional Technology Team Denis Wisner, Specialist Denis has 13 years in CCISD high schools. Content is his top priority, and he believes instructional technology transforms instruction and student engagement. Geeking out fulltime as an instructional technology specialist, he is driven and energized by emerging instructional technology and shares with those willing to learn. Denis is the point of contact for CCISD high schools and is the lead for Nearpod, Flocabulary, Learning.com, and Tech2Learn. Never hesitate to reach out to him. He is always “happy to help.”
Student Ownership During W.I.N. Time Ms. Aleman (3rd grade teacher) at Oak Park Elementary is using QR Codes during WIN Time to provide students with immediate feedback while she is working with her small groups. Submitted by Stephanie Tiet, 1st grade teacher SHOUT OUT! Debra Aleman Oak Park Elementary Ms. Aleman provides differentiated QR Codes to meet her students’ needs. Her students are having fun while learning previously taught content.
“During WIN Time I allow my students to be the master of their own math skills. We review our weekly assessment and data, then we have discussions about where they need to improve.” A choice board is also displayed on the SMART TV for students to have autonomy over their learning during WIN Time.
Meet the @CCISDIT @techroxguerrero Instructional Technology Team Roxanna Guerrero, Specialist `` Roxanna enjoys assisting and supporting others with Instructional Technology to encourage engagement, efficiency, accountability, and passion in others. She loves teaching new technologies and how to best integrate content to make it worthwhile for everyone. Her background is in Secondary Education with both a Bachelor's and Master's in Mathematics. She has served as an Educator for over 20 years in both the elementary and secondary levels. Her IT projects include the Annual Multimedia Fair Event, Future Ready Leaders, Instructional Coaches, Parent Liaisons, and Instructional Technology Chairs. Roxanna supports the specialist for Secondary Mathematics, Secondary Science, and LOTE. Roxanna is the point of contact for all CCISD Middle Schools. This year, she is focusing on the new Canvas Framework, Lumio by SMART, Canvas New Quizzes, and Grade Pass-Back from Canvas to the Teacher Access Center. In her spare time she enjoys learning, reading, biking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Meet the [email protected] Instructional Technology Team Rene V. Pantoja, Digital Media Producer Rene is currently assigned to the Office of Instructional Technology. He serves all district campuses and works with CCISD district departments to develop and create informational videos and print materials. He also creates promotional materials for Instructional Technology events such as Tech2Teach, Tech2Learn, and the CCISD Multimedia Fair. Rene is currently developing and implementing the use of YouTube and Wirecast systems for broadcasting campus events and training. He is ready to help with classroom and district projects. Rene has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and is TCEA Certified in Remote Learning and has a TEA Work-Based Learning Certification.
Meet the @CCISDIT Instructional Technology Team Melissa Gonzalez, Trainer Melissa has been a member of the CCISD family for 21 years. She is currently working as an Instructional Technology Trainer for the Office of Instructional Technology. It is her great pleasure to SERVE and SUPPORT the Leaders, Educators, Learners, and Parents of CCISD with their technology integrations needs. Her thirst for knowledge does not cease. Her credentials include a Nearpod Certified Educator, an Apple Teacher Certification, and a SMART Certified Educator. She assists users with a number of systems including Canvas, Learning.com, Nearpod, SMART, and Apple/JAMF. Additionally, Melissa provides support for Crockett, Evans, Montclair, and Shaw ES.
NACHO DAY!!! We traded nachos for doc cams! After PLC trainings and support from Instructional Technology Specialist, Brandey Addison, teachers are trading their doc cams for cheesy nachos… WHY? Because… It’s “Nacho” document camera no more! Teachers are embracing the use of the SMART TVs at the front of the classroom for active and engaging teaching and learning. Using tools such as Lumio, SMART Ink Document Writer and other digital tools teachers are enjoying the utilization of their SMART TVs.
Meet the @CCISDIT Instructional Technology Team Seth Caylor, Trainer Seth Caylor is an Instructional Technology Trainer with CCISD. Seth has been with CCISD for 20 years, the first 15 or so of those with the Office of Technology. Seth is forever learning new technologies and loves to pass on what he learns. He firmly believes that Technology can enhance the way our students learn and that Technology can save Teachers time and aide them in teaching the next generation. Seth shows Teachers the need to integrate technology seamlessly into the curriculum instead of viewing it as an add-on, an afterthought, or an event.
