What An Electricians Job Is Like Withoutelectricians we would have a hard time living inour homes. We are so use to having our lights,computers, TV's and other handy items that run offof electricity around our homes. Electricianshelp to bring all of this into our homes. They wire

our homes for electricity so we can live easierand function better in our homes. Houses, officesand factories run smoothly because of the work ofelectricians. Electricians can do many usefulthings for homes and businesses alike.Electricians are needed to fix, repair andmaintain electrical items in our homes andbusinesses.Electricians read maps that are also calledblueprints. These blueprints show howelectricity flows. Blueprints show where to putwires, outlets and also electrical equipment.When ever a electrician goes to work on a newbuilding, they draw up new blueprints for theproject. Electricians run tubes through the walls.And small boxes on walls to hold outlets andswitches. They connect the boxes by pulling wiresthrough the tubes to make a path for theelectricity to follow. This is called a circuit.Electricians do many other jobs including addingcircuit breakers, transformers and other

equipment to control the flow of electricity.Electricians make sure that machines get theright amount of electricity that they use.Electricians are skilled and qualifiedprofessionals.When wiring a building electricians follow strictrule about how they do it. Electricians usevoltmeters, ohmmeters and oscilloscopes afterthey finish wiring to measure how muchelectricity that is running through the system.Electricians can install wiring for telephones,fire alarms and computers. They sometimes usefiber optic cable. Maintenance electricians fixelectric machines and broken wiring. Someelectricians focus mainly on houses and rewiringa house. Electricians replace old worn out fuseboxes with new fuse boxes that can run moreappliances. Some electricians work in factoriesand fix items such as generators, robots andmotors. Electricians have training and knowledgeof their work.

Electricians inspect equipment to make sure it isoperating properly. And if it is not they will fixit before it breaks down. They inform managers ofwhen to replace equipment and they also installnew electrical equipment. Electricians usedifferent tools to work with like knives, wirestrippers, power tools, and hacksaws. Someelectricians will stand for a long time doingtheir work and climbing ladders. Electriciansoften work in dirty and dusty areas. But then somework in clean areas. They sometimes work in hotand cold temperatures. Electricians should tryand be careful doing their work to avoid accidentssuch as falls, cuts and even electrical shock.Electricians need good hand eye coordination.They must also be able to tell what the differentcolors of wire are for electrical work. Someelectricians work during the night and sometimeson the weekends. Some electricians travel fardistances to get to their job site. While other

electricians do work in their local area.Electricians are dedicated professionals thatkeep our homes and businesses running smoothly.
