Collectivism: The practice or principle of prioritizing the needs of a group rather then the needs of the individual. The idea that everyone looks out for everyone through cooperation with the end goal of complete equality

Communism/Marxism The Communism ideology comes from Karl Marx, the idea is that a revolution is necessary in order to achieve a classless society. The main value behind communism is achieving equality amongst a society. This is achieved by public ownership of all resources where everyone receives the same benefits, the government makes all decisions for the collective group and individuals have no political voice because a communist state is centrally planned. A leader from the past who believed in communism was Joseph Stalin. Stalin's vision for Russia was to create rapid industrialization in a 10 year time frame. He achieved his goal by creating prison camps, mass purges, collectivisation of agriculture, and media censorship. Those who opposed his plan ended up in a prison camp where they would likely die or they were a victim of his mass purges.

Communism today An example of Communism that exists today is Cuba. Cuba is run by the sole party known as The Communist Party of Cuba. The party runs an authoritarian style of government where any political opposition is repressed and prohibited. The Communist party has control of almost all of the economy, making earning money for individuals extremely difficult. In exchange for economic control, the government provides free healthcare, education, low cost transportation and housing. With that being said, many citizens of cuba have been left homeless and are forced to live in poor quality shelters.

Utopian Socialism Utopian Socialism is the belief that all economic classes can voluntarily create a common goal for society if said goal is presented correctly and convincingly.. The goal is for Individuals to be able to live comfortably for themselves like liberalism, but to also share and support others. An example of a leader who brought this idea to life is Robert owen. He implemented his belief by creating a mill industry where he provided workers with good living conditions, a 10-hour day, free schooling for kids, and other incentives to encourage good work.

Democratic Socialism Democratic socialism is defined as having a Socialist Economy in which the means of production are socially and publicly owned/controlled. In general, Democratic Socialism supports political democracy within a socially owned economy. Today, Democratic socialism exist in Norway. People in Norway are taxed up to 60% coming off their pay cheque in return for free healthcare, medicare, and free education in the first year of post secondary programs.

Centre/Moderate: A middle position on the political spectrum incorporating both collective and individual ideologies evenly, not favouring one more than the other.

Liberalism Liberalism is a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise before anything else. The main idea is to support the rights and freedoms of all individuals without infringing on another's. Liberalism guarantees the rights and freedoms of the individual. An example of Liberalism today is Canada, whos led by its prime minister and leader of the liberal political party, Justin Trudeau

Mixed Economy Mixed Economy is defined as an economic system blending elements of both a Market economy and Planned economy. This means that it incorporates Free market principles along with Government regulation. Governments use this to monitor the economy by typically owning big industries like oil, and sometimes provide perks such as welfare. A mixed economy gives individuals a social safety net to fall back on while giving them the freedom to make their own economic decisions.

Individualism: Individualism is a moral stance, Political philosophy, ideology, and Social outlook that emphasizes intrinsic worth of the individual. It favours the freedoms of the individual rather than State control.

Conservatism: A Political belief that is committed to traditional values and ideas with opposition to change or innovation. The holding of political views that favour free enterprise, private ownership and socially traditional ideas. Conservatism gives the individual freedom of choice with lower tax rates to promote competition. The idea is for the government to not intervene with the economy, a laissez faire approach in hopes that the economy will regulate itself without the need of government intervention. An example of a conservative leader is Donald Trump, the former President of The United States.

Capitalism/Classical Liberalism An Economic and Political system in which a Country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the State. The Government has little interference with the market to promote competition within the market which ultimately leads to economic growth. Capitalism values individual rights and freedoms. Gives individuals freedom of economic choice without any assistance from the government. A leader from the past is Adam Smith, who is said to be the creator of modern Capitalism.

Fascism Fascism is a form of far right Authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by Dictatorial power, Forcible oppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society. All power is held by the Dictator who maintains their power through indoctrination, scapegoating, propaganda ect. Fascism rejects all forms of Liberalism and Communism. Germanys Fascism led by Adolf Hitler in the past led to concentration camps, media censorship, propaganda, and mass genocide. Today, some consider Lebanon a Fascist country.
