my20 TRAINING GOAL FOR 2018At American Water, we value the growth and development of all employees. In support of this, a goal of 20 hours of training has been setfor all employees in 2018. WHAT: A minimum of 20 hours of training should be completed and tracked in LEARN WHO: All employees with a start date prior to October 1, 2018 are required to complete 20 hours of training in 2018 WHEN: Target date for training hours completed is December 15, 2018 (Training completions will be accepted through December 31)When selecting training, employees should work closely with their managers: • Discuss training that is required for the role. • Consider safety, compliance, and other required training that will take place throughout the year. • Focus on areas that would foster improved performance in the employee’s current role or prepare employees for future opportunities. The American Water Competency Model below shows competencies linked to success at American Water.Recommendations that are more detailed will be available in mySource end of Q1. Until then, you can contact your HRBP for details. 2

Yes, American Water e-learning, onsite, and leadership courses are recorded in LEARN. However, it is important for you to track your progress toward the 20-hour goal by checking the system to ensure your enrollment and participation in training is properly recorded. External training includes any training not available for enrollment via LEARN and could include items such as training completed offsite and facilitated by a local vendor or certification courses. You should log external training through LEARN. As with internal training, it is recommended you get manager approval prior to attending.
