Sringeri Sri Sharadha Peetam Obeisance unto the hoary Guru Parampara, beginning from Lord Sri Sadashiva upto the present Acharya with Sri Shankaracharya in middle. In our Indian tradition, a very high position has been accorded to the Guru. Without the grace of the Guru, no one can attain fullment of the purpose of life. We all desire Moksha, and the sole means to its attainment is Jnana (knowledge). How can that knowledge be obtained by us? Can it be got by perusal of texts? No, this knowledge can be procured only from a Guru. Even though the Rishis seeking knowledge may have been scholarly, it is certain that their acquisition of knowledge was solely dependent on their seeking it from a Guru. Only that knowledge which is obtained from the lotus mouth of the Guru is potent. Sans a Guru, no matter how many texts we may delve into, we cannot attain that knowledge. There is a hoary tradition everywhere which can be learnt only from the Guru. Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada and Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetam, Sringeri are Divine Names Blissfully Intertwined and Inseparable in the spiritual annals of Bharat Varsha. Bhagavatpada Shankara, for resurrecting, rmly establishing and anchoring for eternity, the Non-Dualistic Philosophy of Advaita and Sri Sharada Peetam, Sringeri, the rst and the foremost amongst the four Amnaya Peetams founded by Bhagavatpada Shankara, for perpetual preservation of Sanatana Dharma through the unceasing propagation and unrivalled Tapas, unbrokenly performed by the chosen Seers of Holy Mother Sharadamba, the Peetam thereby carrying the unique and Holy Title \"AVICHINNA GURU PARAMBARA\" (UNBROKEN LINEAGE OF ACHARYALS) embellishing the divine VYAKHYANA SIMHASANA - THE THRONE OF TRANSCENDENTAL WISDOM. When the dualistic mundane world has taught us the invincible truth that nothing is permanent and things which emerge must dissolve or exit, Sharada Peetam, Sringeri, since its glorious advent in the 9th century, continues to propagate Sanatana Dharma all through the past 1200 years. We The Devotees of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetam, are the Blessed One . And we had lot of Punyas to get the Janma as the Devotees of Sringeri Mutt. Instead of using the tongue for speaking futile issues, use it to chant the names of God. God shall then guide you along the right and beneficial path. – His Holiness Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal Voice of Jadadguru | April 2015 | 02

The Greatness of Sringeri The Holiest Place of the World - Sringeri Sharada Peetham Shri Vidhya sankarar and Sri Sharadamba Temples Nestled in a picturesque spot in the plateau of the Western Ghats, Surrounded by charming hills rising on all sides like galleries of a huge amphitheater, and reected in the crystal water of tunga river washing its steps, is the math of Sringeri associated with the great Shankaracharya. The Surrounding mountain range is known as the Rishyasringa Parvata. This appellation is derived from the celebrated saint mentioned in the Ramayana. A more charming spot can hardly be found in the whole os Mysore Plate which abounds with natural scenes. The stream Tunga issuing from a hill, winds her tortuous course somewhat north-east and speeds to meet her sister, Bhadra, coming from a different direction. The two streams join about 16 Km off Bhadravati and formed the sacred river Tungabhadra. The High peaks of the western ghats silhouetting against the sky, the dense forest full of tropical vegetarian, the warbling birds and the solitudes of Sunrise and Sun set conjure up an irresistible vision of a hermitage of ancient rishis. No wonder such a a hollowed spot was selected by the Shankaracharya for the founding the rst and premier math. Tradition has it that after the great philosopher had dispersed all the non vaidic creeds through this land of Bharatha Varsha. He was on the holy look-out for a convenient and holy place where he could found an institution to spread the truth of the Advaita Vedanta. Voice of Jadadguru | April 2015 | 04
Choice of Location: He came to Sringeri, wher on the bank of Tunga River He saw an unusual sight. A Cobra Spread out its hood over a frog in labor pains, to give shadow from the scorching sun. Struck with the sanctity of the place Which could infuse love between natural enemies, He chose it to set up a Math. He spent there over 12 years of his all-too precious life of 32 years. This should give us an idea of the esteem the great Shankaracharya had for this holy spot Ancient Legend: Sringeri is hallowed for all times by the ancient legend of the sage Rishyashringa. Sage Vibhandaka, by a curious combination of circumstances, became the father of a Child, with a horn in the forehead, born of a deer. He found himself responsible for the proper upbringing of the Child, Who he named as Rishyasringa. He thought that the easiest way to keep his son innocent of the worldly ways was to keep him in the forest isolation. He succeeded to such an extent when the boy matured into manhood, He had never set eyes on any human being other than his own father. He was even unaware of sexual distinction. It so chanced that a neighboring kingdom suffered from a severe drought. The King Romapada was advised by his Ministers that there would be rains if sage Rishyasringa, blessed his Kingdom with the touch of his holy feet. Romapada sent a number of fair damsels to the forest to bring the sage. They were however afraid of sage Vibhandaka, and so approached the hermitage when He was absent. The innocent boy was struck with the contrasts when he saw them. Their owing hair was unlike the matted locks familiar to him. The delicious sweets with which they fed him were different from the fruits available in the hermitage. Instinctively He was attracted towards the women whom he regarded in his innocence as sages of a different type. Apprehensive of the sudden return of the father, they left Rishyasringa hastily with a parting invitation to come to their hermitage which was close by. After that meeting, the Mind of the boy began to dwell upon them and became restless. He was troubled by Painful But exciting sensation. He Finally decided to go to their hermitage. He felt they would be able to remove his mental oppression. To be Continued.... The sun is the hottest planet in this universe. SOUNDERYALAHERI - Sree Advaitha Adi shankarachariyar gave us two wonderful 100 slokas describing about Lord Parameswara in the name of Sivananadalaheri which will tell about the baktha who speaks about his inner wishes to be in near to the lotus feet of Him. Sounderyalaheri is one which gives about the Mandra, Thandra, Sowrupa & also desceribe the Kesari pada varnanai of Maa Rajarajeswari. in his 100 slokas. There is also another general view that rst 41 slokas are said by Nandi Deva. Rest 59 slokas are given by Sri Adi Shankara..First part 41 slokas is called A n a n d a l a h e r i , S e c o n d p a r t 5 9 s l o ka s c a l l e d S o u n d e r y a l a h e r i . For this lot of legends has given explanations. We will see short explanations for each slokas from this issue . Because anything that we read by knowing the meaning is always best. 1. UTKARSHA OF MAA PARASHAKTHI: Siva: Sakthiya yukto yathi bavathi chantha: prapavitum Na chedevam devo nakalu kushala: ispainthithu -mabi ! Athais- ithvaa-maaraaithyam hari-hara-vireinj chathibi-rabi ipranainthum isthothum vaa kathamaikrutham-puinya: iprabavathi !! (1) Hey Matha Prameshwari ! Lord paramasiva when joined with you he get the power of doing the Shrusti, Sthithi, Samkara, Triyothana, Anughraga for the creation of this prapanja. Without you he is not capable of doing any of his duty & he becomes a jada ie Sthanu (not able to move himself) By doing these ve duties only he is showing that he is the Iswara for this universe. As Lord Paramashiva can't do anything without you, how Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, Indra, Agni, Yama and all other Devada can perform without surrendering to you. With the grace of yourselves only they are doing all. As even those Devadas doesnot able to do anything without you. How a person who have not done any punya karma in his past jenma's will be eligible to do Namaskara or think of you or hear your mahima or tell at least a line of your sloka or do your puja?. Only those who does puniya karma in the past jenma's alone can do Devi puja. The person having the Prarabtham of doing devi puja or doing namaskaram to her or reading her names or mahima or purana are blessed one. To be Continued.... Voice of Jadadguru | April 2015 | 06
SRIMATH SHANKARA DIG VIJAYAM In this page we have decided to give about sri shankara Bagavathapathal. This is from the book written by Sri sri Sringeri Peedathipathi Sri Vidyaranyer Mahaswamigal in the Mathaveeya Digvijayam Sri Sri Adhi Sankara Bhagavathpadhal INTRODUCTION In Sri Bagavath Gita Lord Krishna says that whenever adharma comes up he will do his avadara in this world to protect Dharma. As per his words he took the avathara of Lord Dasarathi Rama. Lord Krishna to safe guard this dharma. Like that to protect this sanathana vaithiga dharma he born in Kaladi Ksethram in Kerala state in this Bharatha Bhoomi. He was born to the Ariyambhal - Sivaguru Couples in the name of Shankara. Within his 32 years he went around throught this Bharatha varsham three times and won many religious persons through his knowledge and made this sanathana dharma to stand again. As said in Upanishads he gave the great Advitha siddantha to the people. He gave Eka sloki to Brahama sutra bhyashiyam to us regarding to our knowledge and taste we can study and get his grace. In Kashmiram he sit in the sarvakya peedam. In this Bharatham he established Four Amnaya Peedams in Four directions. For each mutt he place his four disciples like Sri Padmapadar in each mutt. He atleast disapperared at Kethara Kestram in Himalayas. This Sri Shankara Charitham is given to us Sri Jagath guru Sri Vidyaranyar in his work Sri Mathaveeya Shankara Digvijayam in a cleared and an elaborate way. All the disciples of shankarar accepted this book as the pramana. This article we are planned to give from that book which is in tamil written by Sri N.S. First Sargam: Sri Vidyaranyaswamigal by praying to his guru starts his work on Sri Shankara who is swayam Lord Parameswara himself. Sri Vidhyateertha pay his respect to his guru to grace him to the success of his work to be nished in a perfect way without any obstracles. Guru is of three types. One who is the reason for the birth ie father is the rst Guru. Second Guru is who teaches us the Dharma Sastra. Who rmoves the Ignorance and shows the path for the liberation from this samsarasagaram and shows the Athma yanam is the third Guru. There is no difference between this third guru and paramathma. Both are one and same is the stand of the author of this book. Moreover he is telling that those who have such a bakthi with Lord as well as with his guru, He will get all that was thought by his guru and also with the anugraha of his guru he is able even to get even those things which is not thought by his guru to him. Those who wants to respect his Acharya, they will not tell his name so instead of mentioning “Bharathi” in this rst sloka the author mention “ Tirtha” means purifying . So in the respectful way he added Sri to the word Tirtha. In his second sloka he is mentioning why when there is an elaborate grantha for shankara’s life history what necessary comes to give in the short form. For this he explains when there is a big pot or elephants groups it is shown in a small mirror the whole thing. Like that I am giving in a short form but without any omission. In his third sloka he is mentioning when we are eating sweets we want to eat something hot to compensate the sweet tastes. Like that, this work which is a sweet less one when compared to the very sweet work given by our ancestors which is ready to read. He is telling that his book also has the same efforts when compared to the old one. Those who gave Bhashiyam for Bhramasutra, Upadanishad, Sri Bagavath Gita, etc will be satised with me for giving this book. Lord Mahavishnu who’s place is Parkadal (Milk Ocean) when he is born as Krishna in the gokulam satised with the milk given by them. How this is possible for Him..? Who resist in the Parkadal ( Milk Ocean) any necessity for him to be satised with the small amount of milk given by them. This is purely because of the bhakthi by the people of Ayarpadi. Likewise I am also doing this seeking the satisfaction of those who gave the big oceans in their work be satised through by bhakthi in their lotus feet. He is that much condent like Krishna, Adi Shankar will also satised with him for his small work To be Continued.... BHARATI THEERTHAR ATHICHUDI During the Occasion of 60th Vardhanthi of His Holiness Sri Sri Bharati Theertha Mahaswamigal, Bharathi Kavalar Sri K. Ramamurthy wrote an Athichudi Which Consists of 60 Golden Sayings of the Acharyal. Here We try to Explain the Bharati Theerthar Athichudi with Examples. Explanation: Sree Advaitha 1. WAKE UP IN THE EARLY MORNING: We have to wake in the early morning before sunrise. (i.e. in the Brahma moohurtham) This is because in that time it is said that our mind will be very clear. It will be in the peace. It will grasp the power around us. When we do chanting at that time with a peace within us our concentration will be more. So it is said that we should wake up early. When scientically we see, the ozone is pure in that time.So all the system in our body will function in the perfect way.So for all our morning duties of extracting the waste from our body that vayu (gas) will work in the perfect way. So it is good for health. So that Only Our ancestors are advise us to wakeup in the Early Morning without fail. Sri Guru Pahimam His Holiness Sri Sri To be Continued.... Bharati Theertha Mahaswamigal Golden Sayings of Glorious Guru If a man says that the Himalaya mountain exists, can another man deny its existence, merely because he has never seen it? Obviously not. Similarly, many sages have seen and realized God. Sankaracharya, Vidyaranya, and Sadasiva Brahmendra are only some of the thousands who have had a direct experience of God. So it is impossible to deny God's existence, merely because we are unable to see Him, due to the darkness of ignorance which covers our eyes. - His Holiness Sri Sri Chandrasekhara Bharathi Mahaswamigal Voice of Jadadguru | April 2015 | 09

Historic Event of the Sringeri Mutt On January 23, 2015, continuing this unbroken Guru-Shisya lineage that stretches directly back to Sri Adi Shankaracharya, the 36th Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji anointed His successor. In a traditional ceremony, the Jagadguru initiated Brahmachari Sri Kuppa Venkateshwara Prasada Sharma into Sannyasa and bestowed upon him the Yoga Patta (monastic name) of Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati. Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Swamiji was born as Sri Kuppa Venkateshwara Prasada Sharma on the auspicious Naga Panchami day — July 24, 1993 in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Born as the second son of Sri Kuppa Shivasubrahmanya Avadhani and Smt. Seetha Nagalakshmi, He belonged to the Kaundinya Gotra and is a native of Anantavaram, Guntur District in Andhra Pradesh. His family has a long lineage of illustrious Vedic Pandits who were all ardent disciples of the Sringeri Jagadgurus. His Holiness Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamigal His Upanayanam at the age of 5. Under the guidance of his Grand father and his father he did Veda atyayanam. Born in a family of disciples of the Sringeri Jagadguru, the Brahmachari had accompanied his father while the latter had come to Sringeri to participate in Dharmic activities in the years 2006, 2008 and 2009. The Darshan of Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji during these visits made a profound impact on the Brahmachari. The Brahmachari expressed his desire of studying Shastras directly under the Jagadguru in early 2009. With the blessings and consent of Jagadguru Mahaswamiji, the Brahmachari took refuge under His Lotus Feet in June 2009. Under the tutelage of the Jagadguru, the Brahmachari mastered the Sanskrit language. Then, the Jagadguru Himself taught the Brahmachari the entire Tarka Shastra. The Brahmachari is endowed with Guru Bhakti, scholarship in the Vedas and Shastras, adherence to tradition and dispassion. The Sringeri Guru Parampara lineage has been central to the preservation and growth of Sanatana Dharma. The induction of Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Swamiji is therefore an event of historic importance to followers of Sanatana Dharma throughout the world. Voice of Jadadguru | April 2015 | 11
