Spreading the And he said unto them. Go ye into all the world, and Gospel: Mexico preach the gospel to every creature. ~Mark 16:15 (KJV) By Emmanuel Santos On April 6, 2023, our pastor, Bro. Octavio Ordoñez, and I took a flight to Mexico City to attend special meetings hosted by Bro. Francisco Olguin. Bro. Olguin invited me a few months earlier to go speak at his meetings to the youth. Bro. Olguin personally picked us up from the airport along with another pastor from Paraguay. He then took us to his home where we were able to eat and change clothes to go straight to the first service of his meetings. Upon arriving, we were taken to where the ministers were sitting. When the preaching started, one of the ministers asked if I could interpret for two of the ministers that only spoke English and needed to hear the message in English. So, I sat behind them to interpret for them speaking directly to their ears. I had to interpret the next day, Friday, both in the morning, and in the afternoon for one of the English-speaking ministers. After the fellowships, they had tables and tents set up outside the venue to eat there. On Saturday, the youth were taken to a different venue where Local News: Another Soul Comes in the services, games, and activities were held. Testimony: Miraculous Healing In the first part of 2023, the World Health Organization declared Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) was no longer a global health threat. Today, we reflect on the experience and a miraculous healing testimony of one JT Member, Brother Alfredo Sosa, Jr. Reflecting on the over 6 million reported deaths related to COVID-19, we believe it was God’s desire for him to continue on this earth, even though doctors had not given him much hope. As his family recalls, after being told his lungs were 90% damaged, being intubated, and in a comma for several days, he awoke after several days. Today, he is doing well. God showed us he was not done with him; God still had a purpose for him on this earth. His family recalled, one doctor shared, Alfredo was the third person he had witnessed to leave the hospital alive after being intubated. Today, he and his family are thankful for his healing. During this time, I had a the dimensions, and I could hear a voice from far away calling out my name. Little by little the voice got few doctors’ appointments for my knees. I finally got an appointment to get an MRI on my knees during closer and closer as I woke up to the doctor calling my name. As the doctor called my name, I could hear this time. The day of the appointment finally arrived, my parents were in Tucson and Jose was getting him from afar, “Alfredo… Alfredoooo…” and it began to get closer and closer as I began to open my worse. Right when I was about to get on the table for the MRI, my youngest brother called to tell me eyes and somewhat come to my senses. I believed I awoke on the 6th day, but my family says it was nine that they had just called the paramedics for my younger brother Jose. Jose’s oxygen level was so low, he days later. All I remember from that day was my nose kept itching, and as I did the impossible to scratch was feeling sick and was going to the hospital and asked if I could go so that he wouldn't be alone. I said my nose. The doctor noticed that the restraints were not going to hold me down if I was to want and no, but I would go as soon as I was done with my appointment. I hung up the phone and started praying. pulled any of the hoses out, so he asked me what was wrong, I couldn’t talk but did my version of sign In my prayer, I asked the Lord to please heal my brother, that whatever he had, whatever he was going language, that I wanted to scratch my nose. They released one hand and just observed me as I scratched to go through, to take it away, and give it to me. I prayed that if it was time for my brother to go, that my nose and placed my hand back in position for the restrain. He then stated, “If you promise not to would really hurt my mother. Being that he is her baby, I prayed for God to please spare him, and take pull anything out, I’ll leave your hand untied.” Well, that was music to my ears, so immediately, I gave me instead, I believed it would be a bit more bearable for my mother, if it was me gone instead of my him a thumbs up. brother. I thought, my family and the world would lose someone valuable if he left, and they would lose nothing If I was gone. Exactly to the year, I got sick with this COVID experience. After Intubation This same doctor walked into my room, and I was half asleep; not that I was sleeping since the staff Infection and Hospitalization didn't let me sleep with the noises, blood work, checking on me every so often. The doctor asked how I attended church on Friday, October 15, 2021, like any other service. By Monday, October 18th, while I was doing, again, and I gave him a thumbs up. As he continued to tell me he had spoken to my brother working on the baseball fields at Alhambra High School, I Jose and my daughter Ramona (Mona), I wasn't aware that my daughter was contacted as my oldest kid, noticed a cough. For me, it’s normal to get a cough around so she could make decisions thinking I wasn't going to make it. I kept saying, “No, no no, MOOOOM,” March and October due to change of weather, so I really didn't and he repeated, “Daughter.” We went back and forth a few times until he explained they had contacted think much of it. That made me excited, knowing just so that no other supervisor would try to send me home due I was going to do well. On Day 8, I don’t remember much, except that they did the procedure and I to the cough. While I waited for the results, I planned to take reacted well to it. I don’t know how, but my oxygen tube kept coming off and my oxygen level was Thursday, the 21st and Friday, the 22nd off, and then return to doing better as well. On Day 9, I continued to do well so they decided to pull the tube out a whole day work Monday, the 25th with the results in hand. My supervisor earlier. My throat was so dry, and I couldn’t even talk. I would get short-winded easily. I remembered said that sounded like a good idea, and that was the plan. On the nurse (Grace) walking into my room with a white Styrofoam cup filled with water and ice and an ice Wednesday, October 20th, I got off work at 1:30 pm and drove cream cup. I remember thinking how rude, I'm so thirsty and she walks in with a cup. Later on, that day straight to South Mountain High School to get tested. The next she ended up telling me the cups were for me, she wanted to see how I did drinking and eating ice cream day, Thursday, the 21st I received the result of a positive COVID-19 test. I asked how soon? Tonight? They laughed. que!” I guess those words touched the paramedic, because after that comment they agreed to take me in. Like I mentioned earlier, I was in and out of consciousness. I don't remember getting on the gurney. Going Home I felt the ambulance take off with the oxygen at full blast, I then asked the paramedics “Where are we As the days passed, I kept moving along and the oxygen kept coming off, the going?” They replied to Good Samaritan Hospital. The doctor got upset and walked out. Another doctor walked in transferring me to another room on the first floor. All the nurses there were and explained to me that I was very bad, and I wasn't going to make it, he said, “If you die the time we great, but the one that stood out was a young nurse named (Sam), she had will have to try to revive you is just seconds and by the time we intubate you and try to revive you, it will such love and dedication to her profession. Suddenly, I woke up to a desert setting. I was looking east; there I could see the sun. It looked like the sundown, but if I was looking east, it had to be the sunrise. It was a desert landscape, there was a wooden fence, made from wooden fence poles and outside of the fence there was four motorcycles. In Loving Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he Memory were dead, yet shall he live: ~ John 11:25 (KJV) In January, we were deeply saddened by the news of Sister Rebeca Guzman’s passing to a better life. This trimester, we honor her life. Sister Rebeca was a special person to my mother and my family, ever since we met her and her family on the missionary field in the state of Texas in the early 1990s. We are sad, but we know she rejoiced as she now accompanies her son! We will deeply miss you, Sister Rebeca! Until we meet, again! 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. ~Psalm 23 (KJV) Jericho Tabernacle Newsletter, 1st Trimester (January to April 2023) Page 12
