Compliance Corner CERT Errors from CMS The latest quarterly CERT Error Summary from 1st quarter was recently updated to include errors noted by our Medicare CERT contractor, Wisconsin Physician Services (WPS). Thehighest percentage of errors was due to insufficient documentation at 64%, followed by incorrectcoding at 27%. Some errors noted under insufficient documentation include: Missing documentation describing E/M services for admission and discharge Missing documentation supporting application of short arm cast and sling Missing attestation statement or legible identification of the author to support the claimIncorrect coding error noted: Documentation that did not support an initial inpatient hospital code (99223). Payer Updates Accurate DocumentationUHC – Smart Edits allow a provider to correct edit rejections before theclaim enters the system for processing. The provider has five days to and Codingcorrect the claim before it’s automatically processed. The edits were Drives Revenuedeployed on 8/16 and 9/10 of this year. and EnsuresMedicare – Recently released MLN article SE18004 instructs providers Compliancethat perform IPPE (Initial Preventive Physical Examination) and AWVs Throughout Unity(Annual Wellness Visit - subsequent and initial) to review the patient’sopioid use. Reviewing the use of opioids should be common practicewhen updating the patient’s medical and social history. Per the MLN, “If apatient is using opioids, assess the benefit from other, non-opioid paintherapies instead, even if the patient does not have OUD but is possibly atrisk”. CPT 2019 Update Brings New Codes for Care Coordination Services, Psychological AssessmentsThe American Medical Association (AMA) recently released the 2019 CPT Manual with 335 code changes, primarilyadding care coordination services, central nervous system assessments, skin biopsies, and fine needle aspirations.Three new 2019 codes allow coders to specify physician interactions with patients via remote communicationtechnology, according to the AMA. The manual also includes two interprofessional internet consultation codes toreflect increased non-verbal communication between consulting and treating physicians, according to the pressrelease.The update also includes more specific codes for psychological and neuropsychological testing. Four subsections wereadded (i.e., automated testing result, neurobehavioral status examinations, test administration and scoring, andtesting evaluations services) with new and revised codes for central nervous system assessments.Additional CPT changes for 2019 include several code additions for fine needle aspirations, which specify the type ofimaging guidance used, and skin biopsies, which specify the type of skin biopsy technique used. Please make your elections during this period in order to receive any applicable new ID cards by January 1st. ADP REVIEWING CURRENT ELECTIONS To view your current elections in ADP, log on to https://workforcenow.adp.com, and go to the Myself tab > Benefits > Enrollments. You will see a current day view of your elected benefits. ADP EVENTS / WORK EVENTS As a reminder, you have the ability to add dependents and beneficiaries due to a life event (marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, loss or gaining other coverage, etc.) by using the ADP system - https://workforcenow.adp.com. Go to the Myself tab > Personal Information > Dependents & Beneficiaries and click Add and follow the prompts to add coverage, or next to the Dependents & Beneficiaries name, click the arrow under the Action column to complete other events. 2019 HSA CONTRIBUTION LIMITS The IRS has announced the 2019 HSA contribution limits will increase effective January 1, 2019. The annual contribution limit for individuals with self-only coverage will go up by $50 to $3,500. For those with family coverage, the annual contribution limit will go up by $100 to $7,000. 401(k) DEFERRALS (Contributions) It’s easy to make investment elections when you initially sign up to participate in Unity’s 401(k) plan and forget all about your elections. We strongly encourage reviewing your elections annually to ensure they are still in line with your investment and retirement strategy. To change your deferral amount, go to the Newport website - https://newportgroup.com/login/participant. After logging in, select My Plans from the main menu > Deferrals > Deferral Change.

RecipesFlavorful Southwestern Chili10 servings | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutesINGREDIENTS • 2 lbs. lean ground beef • 1-1/2 cups chopped onions • 2 cans (14-1/2 oz. each) diced tomatoes, undrained • 1 can (15 oz.) pinto or black beans, rinsed and drained • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce • 1 package (10 oz.) frozen corn, thawed • 3/4 cup water • 1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chilies • 1 teaspoon ground cumin • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powderDIRECTIONS: • In a dutch oven, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain. Stir in remaining ingredients.Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Top with tortillas, sour cream, & guacamole.
