This fact was also shown in a survey among students, With good health wishes from which we also learned about certain problems and room for improvement. Thank Róbert Marušák you to everyone who participates in teaching in these non‑standard conditions in any way, and thus contributes to improving the quality of education at our Faculty. I am happy that, although with some restrictions, we were still able to organize at least some of the planned events. One of them was the first Faculty Fa‑ mily Day, which I believe you enjoyed. A very successful event was also the first Woodwor‑ king Day at FFWS, which was highly positively evaluated by participants from professional practice. It showed us how we can and must present ourselves more in practice. We already know that when the situation allows, we will organize a similar Woodworking Day at FFWS. In order to inform more about not only our publications but also our application outputs, we published the first Newsletter for Practice, which was a supplement to the Les‑ nická práce magazine. In this way, we want to support the application of your scientific work results in practice in the future. NEWSLETTER –1– INTRODUCTORY WORD

Past events FFWS Family Day On 1 September 2020, the first event of this year took place on the premises of the Faculty of Fores‑ try and Wood Sciences. Throughout the afternoon, a busy programme was prepared not only for adults but also for children. 235 people attended the Family Day. Children went to a puppet theatre, face‑painting, forest pedagogy path, and finally tasted excellent rolled ice‑cream. The staff and their loved ones could listen to live music and enjoy a beautiful autumn afternoon. We hope to meet again in such large numbers next year. Woodworking Day at FFWS sentatives arrived. The whole discussion was very beneficial, and we will repeat the event next year. In mid‑September, we organized a Woodworking Day at the Faculty. Representatives of DWPB, in cooperation with the Dean’s Office, prepared an interesting programme for representatives of companies from the wood processing indust‑ ry, the field of wooden construction, and other related fields. During the day, several professional workshops were held on current research issues, as well as discussions on the level of wood scien‑ ce study programme graduates. We participated in Science and Technology Week online This largest science festival in the Czech Repub‑ lic this year took place online due to epidemio‑ logical measures. The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences took part in a lecture on the topic: Modern trends in forestry in the 21st centu‑ ry in connection with climate change, which was given by the Deputy Head of the Department of Wood Processing and Biomaterials, Ing. Přemysl Šedivka, Ph.D. The lecture was intended for the general public; we know from the feedback that it was a great success. Vltava Run The current situation in the Czech Republic and in the world associated with the spread of COVID-19 has influenced, among other things, the traditional participation of our Fa‑ culty in the Vltava Run relay race. The 360 km run had to be moved from the beginning of May to 19-20 September. The change also affected the time schedules of many of our colleagues, who could not support the Faculty during the race. Although one team eventua‑ lly had to change categories and move from a 12-member to a 9-member category, the Faculty had huge success. Again, both teams managed to move up the ladder and impro‑ ve absolute times. The team Kluci z pražské lesárny with a time of 26:49:46 took overall seventh place and second place in its catego‑ ry, less than 5 minutes behind the winner. The second team representing our Faculty/ Běžci z pražské lesárny/ took overall 57th place with the time of 30:58:06. NEWSLETTER –4– PAST EVENTS
