Dr Fr Biju K C - Director FOREWORD CHRIST Bannerghatta Campus. The months of June-July in CHRIST Bannerghatta campus observe active skill-enhancement and training sessions for the administrative and non-teaching staff of the campus, now, for the third consecutive year. This magazine is a testimony on the progress of the administrative staff who served as the resource persons for multifarious sessions while the rest participated in them to absorb knowledge, develop and grow. The topics ranged from computer hardware and networking, personal enhancement sessions, Fire and safety, Sustainability and so on accompanied with high-spirited physical activities such as treasure hunting and online quiz competition. These sessions were intertwined with theory and interaction with zealous participation from the attendees. Apart from the offline sessions, the administrative staff enrolled themselves in several online certificate courses and successfully completed within the stipulated one-month period. The unwavering belief that every employee needs the encouragement to grow and develop with the changing world is the motive behind organising these training sessions and remarkably, this annual ritual brings substantial outcomes in the work performance of the administrative personnel. Resource Person: SUSTAINABILITY Ms Arundathi S V Sports Coordinator, The event commenced at 2.35 PM on 13 June 2022 with the attendance of all administrative staff. Ms. Arundathi S V, Sports Coordinator of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus, was the resource person of the session. She CHRIST (Deemed to be University), started the session with an introduction of the title SUSTAINABILITY and described the importance of sustainability with few key facts and objectives of the training – to develop an awareness on what is SD, SD goals – Globally and Locally, to be Bannerghatta Road Campus aware of SD projects and impacts it creates locally and how one can be an actor of SDG. She spoke about climate change having an impact on sports practice and adaptation to climate change. She divided the staff in pairs to discuss the impact on the environmental devastation. Common points discussed by the teams included awareness of how serious initiatives need to be, on the usage of plastics to students, segregation of dry and wet waste for recycling purposes. water consumption running out of control and reducing emissions by using public transport which can contribute to making the air cleaner. She explained the 6 stances – 1. Energy, 2. Water, 3. Waste, 4. Eco-Design, 5. Social, 6. Eco mobility and briefed about 17 SD goals of the UN. The event concluded with a video display of Hummingbird that conveyed the moral “I am doing what best I can.” At the end of the session she asked all the participants to write a maximum of 3 actions in order to be an actor on SD.
Resource Person: IKIGAI (THE JAPANESE SECRET Ms Krithika Balaji TO A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE) Coordinator of Student Welfare Office Ms. Krithika Balaji shared the concept of Ikigai in a very interesting and captivating manner. The Japanese Secret to CHRIST (Deemed to be University), longevity reveals the importance of lifestyle, specifically to do Bannerghatta Road Campus with eating habits (Hara Hachi Bu), finding a purpose (Ikigai) and joining a social group (moai). The concept of Ikiga ( Mission, Vocation, Passion, Profession) was explained along with some of the rules of Ikigai - Active Mind, take it slow, Connect with people and nature, never retire, smile, stay fit. The participants enjoyed the interactive session. The session was held on 20 June 2022 attended by all the administrative staff.
Resource Person: ETIQUETTES Ms Chitra S The session on Etiquettes was held on 23 June 2022 at 11.00 am Administrative Assistant, Dean’s Office, with19 participants attending the session. Ms Chitra explained the meaning of Etiquette in simple words defining it as good CHRIST (Deemed to be University), behaviour that distinguishes human beings from animals. She Bannerghatta Road Campus highlighted how bodily gestures, eye contact, and polite communication identify with a person having appropriate etiquettes. She brought out the importance of maintaining good behavior in the society which is a very important part of social living. The session concluded with a few activities to the participants who enacted a situation using etiquettes to express courteousness.
Resource Person: MUDRAS & MEDITATION Mr Sebastian Junior Administrative Staff Mr Sebastian explained the different types of mudras that can be used in our daily lives to aid us in meditation, stress relief and CHRIST (Deemed to be University), pain relief. He discussed how practising mudras regularly can cure sleeplessness, memory loss, incurable infections, blood Bannerghatta Road Campus pressure. and also the advantages of practising these mudras. He demonstrated Gyan Mudra (Mudra of Knowledge), Prana Mudra (Mudra of Life), Shunya Mudra (Mudra of Emptiness), Apan Mudra (Mudra of Digestion), Surya Mudra (Mudra of Sun), Ling Mudra (Mudra of Heat) and Varun Mudra(Mudra of water)
Resource Person: MINDFULNESS Ms Stella Veigas On 17 June 2022, Ms Stella Veigas was the resource person for the Mentor, CAPS session on ‘mindfulness. The administrative staff who attended CHRIST (Deemed to be University), the session got to know the meaning of mindfulness with a few activities which sparked the interest of the participants. The Bannerghatta Road Campus second stage involved theoretical explanations on the importance of mindfulness describing how the human brain was like a money that wanders with hundreds of positive and negative thoughts, and how these thoughts need to be controlled for mental well- being. The practise of meditation was also brought out during the session.
Resource Person: ADMINISTERING INSULIN INJECTION Ms Sonia Joseph (THEORY AND PRACTICAL) Centre for Health Services Ms Sonia Joseph discussed the importance of administering CHRIST (Deemed to be University), ‘Insulin’ injections to diabetic patients and explained that the insulin shots need to be administered on a daily basis for some Bannerghatta Road Campus diabetic patients. The different methods of giving an injection – Intravenous, Intramuscular, Subcutaneous and Intradermal, was explained and demonstrated with a pillow. The insulin injections are subcutaneously administered in a 45 degree angle. The session had practical demonstrations with a pillow where the participants were called to demonstrate what they understood. The session ended with a great feedback from the audience.
Dr Fr Biju KC - Director BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY CHRIST Bannerghatta (FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT) Campus. An interesting session on the 'Blue Ocean Strategy' was held on 24 June 2022, with Dr Fr Biju as the resource speaker. He explained how the 'Eliminate, Reduce, Raise and Create' strategies can be used to enhance personal and work potentials. The participants were engaged in an activity where they required to divide their interests and activities into the four categories – what they need to eliminate, reduce, raise, and create in their lives.
Resource Person: LIBRARY ONLINE QUIZ Library Staff On 30 June 2022, the Library staff of Bannerghatta Campus Ms Lakshamamma D, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Mr Balaraj Z and Mr Basavaraj Kolavi held an online quiz competition for all the administrative staff of the campus. The quiz mainly focussed on topics related to the University library and was conducted using the Bannerghatta Road Campus Kahoot online app. The fun-filled session lasted for half an hour with Mr Akhilesh winning the first prize and Ms Sonia and Mr Baby bagging the second and third prizes respectively. TREASURE HUNT The administrative staff of CHRIST Bannerghatta campus enjoyed an active session of Treasure Hunt in the library. They had to hunt down the objects/books indicated in the clues which were hidden at various places. The library staff Ms Lakshamamma D, Mr Balaraj Z and Mr Basavaraj Kolavi had cleverly mapped the clues and hid it across the library at different areas and floors. The participants were divided into three groups and with each of them sportively participated to win in the Treasure Hunt. The participants were served refreshments at the end of the event.
Resource Person: COMPUTER HARDWARE Mr Appasaheb Kolavi A+ & NETWORKING N+ IT Services The session on Computer Hardware A+ & Networking N+ was CHRIST (Deemed to be University), held on 21 June 2022 at 11:00am. Around 18 Administrative staff attended the session. Mr Appasaheb Kolavi discussed on the Bannerghatta Road Campus basics of computer and its hardware and software components. He discussed the Types of Computer , who the father of computer was and the meaning of a network He explained the functions of networking and its basics. A detailed explanation on the functions of internet what is the internet, who invented the internet, who owns the internet, why do we need to pay for internet and the uses of network was given during the session.
Resource Person: FIRE AND SAFETY Mr Manoj Kumar S Office of Security The session on Fire and Safety started at 2.30 pm at the Audi Block Entrance with 65 attendees to the session. Mr Manoj, the CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Security in-charge of Bannerghatta campus explained the Fire Triangle, types of fire, different types of fire extinguishers, its Bannerghatta Road Campus features and its operation and maintenance. He explained on how to handle a fire outbreak situation and how to use the appropriate fire extinguishers during the emergency situation. A practical demonstration on how to operate the different fire extinguishers was held. Ms Sonia Joseph, Ms Narasimma and Mr Vinay had the chance to operate the fire extinguishers.
