Thriller night… As the summer turns to autumn and green turns to orange, on October 31st we celebrate the dead by donning scary costumes and doing mischief. What was primarily an Irish tradition that marked the end of summer, the harvest, and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, is today modernized and has evolved into a lighthearted tradition of fun and games. Halloween was popularized in the nineteenth century, when the Irish immigrants in America adopted it into the holiday we all know and love today. The season revolves around popular activities like carving jack-o-lanterns, going trick-or-treating and attending festive gatherings. Some might entertain themselves on Hallows Eve by watching a classic horror flick like “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” and “Scream”, or perhaps celebrate together with friends and family on Halloween themed parties. Whatever you prefer to do, just keep in mind that on thriller night, no one’s gonna save you from the beast about to strike. This is our first issue this term, and my first time as editor in chief of MORSK. I would like to give my warmest gratitude to our former editor in chief, Rebekka, for her support during this transition. Contrary to last year we decided to release this year’s special issue before the main issue. With the success of our last special, “Christmas”, we decided to do another for this year too. For those of you wondering, our main edition is currently in development and will be released later this year. MORSK wishes you a spooky, scary Halloween! Bendik H. Jacobsson Editor in Chief LEDER 1
