scripture Exodus 34:1-7a The Lord said to Moses, “Cut two tablets of stone like the former ones, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you broke. Be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai and present yourself there to me, on the top of the mountain. No one shall come up with you, and do not let anyone be seen throughout all the mountain; and do not let flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain.” So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the former ones; and he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tablets of stone. The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name, “The Lord.”The Lord passed before him, and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, communion litrugy Holy God, we joyfully give thanks to You; for You created us in your image and gave us life with your breath. You love does not falter and we meet you here at this table with open hearts. Amen. You are Creator of All and through Your Spirit Jesus proclaimed good news to the poor healed the sick, fed the hungry, befriended sinners and liberated the enslaved. Through Him, we come to this table knowing that the same Spirit dwells in us so that we might follow in his footsteps, showing this same compassion to all people. communion litrugy continued This bread is made from many grains from many fields, yet was formed into a single loaf. Because there is one God we, though many, and in many places, are one body. On the night in which Jesus gave himself over, he took bread, gave thanks to you, O God, and said, “take, eat, this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” This fruit of the vine is made by many hands, from many places, yet pours freely for all people in all times and in all places. After dinner, Jesus took the cup, gave thanks, and said, “This is my cup of the new covenant. Drink from it in remembrance of me.” In remembering the mighty acts of Jesus, we offer ourselves as a living witness, proclaiming the mystery of faith: Christ has died Christ has risen Christ will come again Pour out your Spirit on all those gathered together across this Holy space, and on the gift of the elements in each of your homes. Your Spirit makes us one with Christ and one with each other. It binds, blends, and multiplies us, as we minister to the world, as one beloved community of faith.
