Following are the activities organized during the mega event: Advanced Weapon and Artillery exhibition by Border Security Force and Indian Air Force Guests and students visiting the weapon exhibition An exhibition of advanced weapon and artillery was organized by Border Security Force and an Induction Publicity Exhibition Vehicle (IPEV) of Indian Air Force with aircraft simulator was positioned at the campus of Nirma University. The exhibition was open for the two days of Praveg22. More than 3000 people including college students, school students and faculty members visited the exhibition. A visit of more than 35 specially abled (hard of hearing) students along with their teachers to the campus of Nirma University was arranged by MESA. They were guided to visit the advanced weapon and artillery exhibition. Also, a drawing competition was organized for them. Cultural Show Cultural night during Praveg’22 A cultural show was organized at the end of the event (13th October, 8 pm) in which a group of Border Security Force presented a bhangda performance. SAE Collegiate Club The “Students Unmanned Arial Systems Competition (SUAS) 2022” was organized at St. Mary's County Regional Airport, Maryland, USA. Total of 71 teams including 7 Indian teams participated in the competition. The team Arrow of Nirma University successfully completed all the tasks of competition. Team Arrow at SUAS 2022 The Team Arrow participated in Aero Design Challenge 2022 organized by Society of Automotive Engineers India southern section at 1st to 3rd September 2022 at SRM University. ROBOCON Event • Team Nirma became the national champion in the DD-Robocon 2022, an annual national level robotics competition which was held at Tyagraj Stadium, New Delhi from 15th -18th July 2022. Total of 80 teams had registered from all over country and 45 teams qualified for the final competition. Team Nirma at DD Robocon 2022 • Team Nirma represented India at the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest from 19th -22nd August, 2022. The contest was co-hosted by Doordarshan and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Due to pandemic situation, it was organized in online format. Total 13 teams from across the world competed with each other in the international event. The team Nirma Robocon stood 2nd Runner Up in the competition. The team was also awarded special ‘NOK Award’. Expert lecture organized by ASHRAE Nirma University student branch in association with MESA • An online expert lecture on “Solar Cooling Systems: An overview” was organized by ASHRAE Nirma University student branch in association with MESA on 27th July 2022 at 11:30 AM. ACTIVITIES & ACHIEVEMENTS BY FACULTY MEMBERS Faculty members deputed for collaborative research at international universities • Dr Mihir Chauhan is deputed to carry out research work for 6 months (Ju|y,2022 to December,2022) under the Faculty Exchange Programme at the School of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering, Florida Atlantic University, Florida, USA. The research activity will be carried out in association with Dr. Erik Engeberg. Dr. Mihir will also be undertake the teaching activities at Florida Atlantic University. • Dr Mayur Makhesana received research fellowship and got selected for the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) International Research Experience scheme for the year 2022-2023. SERB is a statutory body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The fellowship has been approved to work on the collaborative research project at Materials Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland. Short Term Training Program organized by the department Participants of the STTP A Short-term training program “Advances in Material Processing with focus on Emerging Technologies” was organized by Mechanical Engineering Department, during 04h June to 15th June 2022, to address various aspects of ongoing developments in the field of material processing. The two week training program was coordinated by Dr.N.D.Ghetiya. The main objective of two weeks training program was to address research and development activities and current practices in the area of advanced manufacturing. The course provided a unique opportunity to the faculty members, the researchers and practicing engineers to be benefitted with various talks and interactive sessions delivered by experts in the concern field. About the Program: The common inauguration ceremony was held on 4th July 2022 and Prof. Anup Singh Director General Nirma University delivered the keynote address. Dr R N Patel, Director, school of Technology gave welcome address and also presented overall outline of the various STTP programs. The expert from IITS, NIT, SAC-ISRO, IPR and other well-known organizations delivered talks on various topics related to title of STTP. Apart from the expert talks from the eminent speakers, the key features of the program were: Industrial visits to Balkrishna Boilers Pvt Ltd, Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd and A Innovative International Ltd were organized during last two sessions on 7th July 2022, 11th July 2022 and 13th July 2022 respectively. The participants had good interaction with industry personal during industrial visit. The participants learned about boiler manufacturing technology and its design requirements during their visit at Balkrishna Boilers Pvt Ltd. The participants also understood the laser technology applications in various engineering fields and working and manufacturing of water jet cutting machine respectively at Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd and A Innovative International Ltd. The participants also appreciated the well-planned visits at various industries. A hands-on practice session was organized to operate robots using its programming commands as a part of industrial robotics laboratory session. The participants were taught about the installation procedure and movement of Robotic arm in its workspace for various applications using its Teach-Pendant commands. The demonstration of Humanoid Robot, NAO V6 was also carried out. The hands-on practice session on Cube pro 3D printer was also conducted to understand the fabrication methodology in additives manufacturing as a part of rapid prototyping laboratory. The basic process steps were executed and options available for material, build parameters, build quality, etc. were explained during the session. The demonstration of cube pro software was also given during the lab session. The valedictory function of the STTP was organized as per the scheduled time on 15th July 2022 at A-101. The participants shared their experiences on the provoking sessions of all the main domains of manufacturing technology and latest knowledge they gained during the STTP. The participants appreciated the well- organized sessions of the STTP, covering all the aspects of current developments and theories especially in the field of Advances in Manufacturing Processes.
