MECHदतू , ISSUE-1 The main challenge for the team for competition year 2020 was the introduction of a new parameter of having a student pilot from the team itself. But thanks to the initiative and relentlessness of Jayraj Gohel backed up by team’s Faculty mentors, the team not only had its own pilot in less than 2 months but the team aced in flying the UAV, the organizers were quite happy with team’s pilot flying skills. MECHदतू , ISSUE-1 ACHIEVEMENTS OF FACULTY MEMBERS IN EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Faculty members from Mechanical Engineering Department, committed for overall development of students. Involvement of faculty members encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities. Prof. Hiren Prajapati is a dynamic personality. He has brought in innovative practices in teaching-learning process and always tries to link theory with practice. Along with research and innovation, he is great sportsperson and part of Nirma University faculty cricket team along with two more faculty members, Prof. Anand Bhatt and Prof. Roshan Tandel, from Mechanical Engineering Department. He has played for the NU Dronas in intracollege, intercollege and interuniversity competitions. He was also declared player of match in various matches due to his all-rounding performance. With his presence, Team NU Dronas stood runner's up and quarter finalist in NCL18 and NCL19 respectively. He has led NU Dronas as a captain in NCL19. He also has a good command on Swara, Taal and Raaga. He has performed in various cultural events like Vaudeville, NUZeal, Matrubhasha Divas, DeshRaag etc. hosted at Nirma University and proved dominating. Listing few of them in which he won the 1st prize in Matrubhasha Divas 2016 and DeshRaag 2016. He was the runner's up in NUZeal 2020 and DeshRaag 2020. His active involvement in teaching-learning and extracurricular activities motivate students in doing their best. MECHदतू , ISSUE-1 Prof. Roshan believes in a practical learning approach in the field of education for which he blends in physical structures and equipment with theories in his classroom. He believes that a fine balance between theory and practicality is the key to a good education and steers the knowledge in that direction. Apart from teaching, he is also a gym enthusiast, for he believes that only a fit body can have a fit mind, and he spends ample amount of time each day dedicating to his fitness. He also trains students online as well as offline to improve their fitness and nutrition. He has taken part in various fitness competitions and has been consistently crowned 2nd in Mr. Valsad Body Building Competition 2018, Mr. Valsad Body Building Competition 2019, and Men’s Physique Mr. Valsad 2019. He has also been awarded 3rd in Men’s Physique Ahmedabad 2019, 4th in Mr. Ahmedabad Body Building Competition 2019, and 3rd in Mr. Valsad Body Building Competition 2020. He has won many tournaments in cricket and volleyball during his MTech years at Nirma and still continues to be a part of Nirma Faculty cricket team. He also has a keen eye for photography and sketching, and an interest in videography which can be seen in his social media profiles. Runners up in raw Mr Valsad Competition 2018 & 2019 3rd in Mr. Valsad Competition Prof. Rudresh Makwana secured first position in poster making event in NUZEAL-2020. The subject for the poster is “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” 52
