Dear friend, Caretta caretta, how is life in the vastness of the ocean? For us, humans, the ocean is a place where we can get food, drill our oil, and do a lot of other things with no regard for the animal life, but to you the ocean is your home and so we should at least do the bare minimum to take better care of it so that our children could have the opportunity of witness an ocean full of life and not a plastic wasteland where animals strugle to survive, all because of our unwillingness to act. I always liked turtles, and I have two turtles. They are not big like you, in fact when I bought my first turtle it was just this little fragile thing that made me wonder how could an animal so small live in this world so full of dangers. When she started growing up, I built her a little lake and afterwards got her a turtle friend, because I wanted her to live in a good place. Despite dealing with turtles in a daily basis, I didn´t knew how your life, can, sometimes, be so difficult. A couple years ago, I was in the Sal Island, in Cabo Verde Archipelago and I had the opportunity to saw a Caretta caretta, she came to the beach, laid her eggs in the sand and went back to the ocean. It was an amazing experience! I saw, too, the work that local people does to protect the eggs that you lay in the sand, and how much they care about their conservation.
