SAMUEL M. CORBIN, SR. On April 15, 1944, Samuel Morris Corbin Sr. was born to the late Reverend John H. Corbin and Veaster Corbin in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was the ninth child of 12 siblings born. Two brothers, John, Jr. and Alfred preceded him in death. Samuel attended Grape Street Elementary, Gompers Jr. High and graduated from Fremont High School. Shortly after high school, Samuel was employed with the Los Angeles Unified School District stationed at Airport Junior High School as a Sanitation Technician for 5 years. He then married Nettie White on August 27, 1966, and they had their first child, Samuel Jr., born in 1967. Two months later, Samuel was drafted into the United States Army, where he fought in the Vietnam War for our country. In the Vietnam war, Samuel Sr. received three purple hearts and several other medals. After returning from the Vietnam War, Samuel Sr. and Nettie (married for 20 years) had 3 more children, Manuel, Nettie, and (Truett) preceded him in death. Samuel Sr. was a loving father who cared about his children and kept his presence in their lives as well as his grandchildren’s lives. If you needed someone to talk to, he was there to listen and gave helpful advice. He was a pillar in his community, a mentor to the neighboring kids and when he spoke you listened and understood him clearly. Not only that, Samuel Sr. was a joker, when you might be feeling down, he had a way with words to cheer you with a joke. He was a real cool man, down to earth, but didn’t take no bullshit and was known and respected throughout Los Angeles County. Later in life, Samuel met Lydia Gardner and to this union two sons were born Keith Sr. and Kevin Sr., daughter Kadeshia (William). Shortly, as a ladies’ man, Samuel would meet Cindy, and (Destiny) preceded him in death and to their unions, (Joshua) preceded him in death and Realtie was born. Samuel Sr. was an old fashioned man who loved watching the Lone Ranger, and war movies. He also enjoyed being around the family and later reunited back with Christ. He went back to his dad’s church at Greater Holy Faith Missionary Baptist Church where his sister, Pastor Katurah Logan, would become his pastor. He served as the maintenance helper for the church. So, we know where our dad is because he definitely knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Samuel leaves to mourn his loving children: Samuel Jr. (Shirley), Manuel (Debra), Nettie (Tyrone), Keith, Kevin (Michelle), Realtie, Kadeshia, and Trelicia. Grandchildren: Marquita, Samuel III, Marquese, Darren, Nyla, Kingston, Tyrone Jr., Tyronesha, Trunidra, Keith Jr., Keivionna, Cali, Kyra, Keilah, London, Karsyn, Kevin Jr., Joshua Jr., and Abri’ana. Great grandchildren: Delilah, Samir, Samiyah, Nevaeh, Marquese Jr., Terrion, and Melanie. His sisters: Doris Hooks, Mary Joyce, Orsie Parker, Isadora Ephriam, Melrosy Stewart, Lois Talbert, Vester Winbush, Katurah Logan, and Alice Witherspoon, all brothers-in-law preceded him in death. Mothers of his children, Nettie, Lydia (dad was her best friend), Cindy and friend Delicia. A close niece Candy and nephew Cubby that often came by to check on him and a village more of nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.

gÜ|uâàxá Dear Pops, My mind keeps calling you. It’s so hard to grasp what has happened and it’s so hard for me to say good bye. “You may be gone from our sight but never our memories, you may be gone from our touch but never our hearts.” We love you dad, you put up a good fight, and I know you were tired, so rest on Dad, until we meet again in heaven, tell all the family I said what's up. Love, Your daughter Nedra *** Dear Dad, I keep thinking about you, the fun times, the conversations, your laughter and smile but most importantly all the love you gave me. Dad I’m so thankful for all those memories and God knows I wish you were here to make more but God called you home to bring you His peace for ever more. I love you; I miss you and I always will with all my soul. Love, You daughter Debra
