In Our CommunityPassover Pesach, or Passover in English, is a Spring festival, commemorating the Exodus of theJews from slavery in Egypt over 3,000 years ago. Observance of this holiday centers around ahome service called the seder (meaning “order”) with a festive meal, the prohibition of chametz(leaven), and the eating of matzah (an unleavened bread). At the seder we read from a bookcalled the hagaddah, meaning “telling,” which contains the order of prayers, rituals, readingsand songs for the Pesach seder. e Pesach seder is the only ritual meal in the Jewish calendaryear for which such an order is prescribed. e name Pesach is derived from the Hebrew word pasach, whichmeans “passed over.”  It recalls the miraculous 10th plague when all the Egyptian firstborn were killed, but theIsraelites were spared. Traditionally the youngest person at the seder, who is capable of asking them, recites theFour Questions. For more information consult www.urj.org.Don’t Miss Rabbi’s Spring Forum “¡Hola! Consolidation is about the loss of identity to form something less. It is not a merger – which is about the blending of identity to form something different. Yes, collaboration always involves some loss – and the loss can be significant, especially on an individual level. Yet collaboration is mainly about shared resources, it is about coming together to strengthen what you have. It won’t save money and it won’t save time but if done right, it will strengthen the Jewish community for the future. It is about Hillel’s ancient adage - “If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
