NCEES Holds Annual MeetingThe National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors heldits 96th annual meeting this past August in Miami, FL. Delegates fromall 50 states and several international districts attended the event andaddressed a range of issues related to the NCEES and engineeringand surveying licensure. Several OSBEELS Board members and staffattended this year’s meeting, which took place over the course ofthree days.Perhaps the most impactful motion the NCEES members passedduring the meeting was to authorize the development andadministration of one or more depth modules to supplement thePrinciples and Practice of Surveying exam. The proposed moduleswill be related to the U.S. Public Lands Survey System and/or theMetes and Bounds survey system. The NCEES has commissioned atask force to work on the development of the modules in the comingyear.“This is a long-term project to ensure that our exams continue tomeet the needs of professional surveying licensure, “Jerry Carter,NCEES CEO, stated during the annual meeting. “We plan to studythe structure of the PS exam in the coming year to determine the bestpath forward. “Interested in learning more about the 2018 Annual meeting?
