Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! As you look for field trip opportunities for the upcoming year, we encourage you to consider a visit to the Bartow History Museum! Along with our partners, The Grand Theatre and the Booth Western Art Museum, we provide a variety of unique educational programs to supplement classroom instruction. Explore cultural changes in the postwar era, learn how to do the Charleston, and participate in a decision-making activity highlighting difficult choices during the Great Depression. Field Trips Bartow History Museum & Booth Western Art Museum American Indian Experience - 8th grade (All-Day Experience - Subject to Availability - Contact Booth for Booking) Booth Scheduler Nicolette Paglioni 770-387-1300 ext. 7227 A collaboration with the Booth Museum, Bartow History Museum, and Etowah Indian Mounds Students visit three sites on this full-day excursion while learning about American Indian culture in Georgia. Students will learn about the Cherokee through interactive discussions using art and artifacts from the Booth and Bartow History Museum’s collections. Topics covered include forced removal and The Trail of Tears, Worcester vs. Georgia, Doctrine of Discovery, Cherokee basketry, a look at a Cherokee log cabin, Sequoyah, natural resources, movement and migration, and Indigenous stereotypes. The students continue their journey at the Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site where they explore the most intact Mississippian Culture site in the Southeast. Traveling Trunks Bartow History Museum Can't come to us? We'll come to you. We offer a wide range of traveling trunks to fit multiple GSE standards. To Book, Click Here $50.00 per presentation within Bartow County $60.00 outside Bartow County. Additional travel fees may apply. Also, learn what it was like to attend class in a one-room schoolhouse. ELACCKSL1, ELACCKSL2, ELACCKSL3 Colonial Life – Grades 2 & 3 Experience the daily life in the southern colonies as you learn about farmers, women, children, and the differences between indentured servitude and enslavement. Explore the changes that the Cherokee chose to adopt from the white European settlers and witness a blowgun demonstration. SS2H1, SS2H2, SS2G2, SS2H1 Civil War – Grade 4 A haversack and knapsack hold the soldier’s most important possessions. Experience a packing activity to see what items to prioritize over others before heading off to war and discover the hardships of the doctors and nurses who cared for the sick and the wounded. ELACC4SL1, ELACC4SL2, ELACC4SL3 World War II – Grade 5 From the battlefront to the homefront, students learn about the causes of the war, V-mail, Victory Gardens, and rationing.
