HOME INTERIOR TREND:WHAT’S HOT As we step into the next era of interior design, we’reseeing a big change in everything from colour trends to product sustainability. This season, it’s going to be incredibly interesting to see how these different trends areinterpreted by interior designers, industry professionals and consumers alike. WWW.CARPETCOURT.COM.AU | 5

Earthy sustainabilityOn the runways we’re starting to see fashion take on an earthy aestheticthrough colours like buttermilk yellow, sage green and auburn red.Gone are the days of colour blocking, canary yellows and millennialpinks. Instead, these natural tones will begin to trickle into the interiordesign space and influence how we’re styling and purchasing in 2019.We’ll start to see these natural colour palettes more and more inthe coming months, accompanied by a significant shift towardssustainability. This will be reflected in both interior styling and howproducts are physically produced. Alternative fabrics such as animal-free leather and worm-free silk will be at the forefront of this pushtowards sustainability. When it comes to interior design, recycled materials will also begin tomake a statement. Woven wall hangings made from natural materialsand reclaimed timber furniture pieces will see a rise in popularity. Thisminimalist style can be incorporated into any space in both simpleand bold ways. For a statement, why not source a large coffee tablemade from reclaimed timber for a feature piece within your livingspace? For something slightly more subtle, native grass fruit bowls andwall hangings are a simple way to inject this sustainable style into yourhome. An old favouriteAnother trend for the year ahead is the introduction of an old favouritein the interior design space: wallpaper. Typically, the use of wallpaperwithin a space is thought to be a throwback to the ‘70s and ‘80s, howeverthis year we’ll see a resurgence of this classic. While velvet feature wallsare still very much out of favour, there are some really simple ways wecan create a focal point within spaces that might seem blank and dull.Create some impact in small spaces with a bold print. Play with coloursand textures to create something really special. If you’re working with amuch larger space, it’s always a good idea to liven it up with somethinga little more subtle, which could then tie in cleverly to the surroundingspace. No matter the size of your home or space, wallpaper is a greatway to create immediate impact in any room. For more tips and tricks on the best ways to use wallpaper in yourspace, see the expert advice from Carpet Court’s very own ambassador,Darren Palmer on page 33.Whether you’re looking to renovate your home or simply make a fewstyle updates this year, Carpet Court is here to help. We have a wealthof expertise with on-trend styling and product knowledge and our localteams are perfectly placed to help guide you through the full spectrumof home updates.6 | 2018-19
