Australia’s RENOVATING ANGELS TRANSFORM LIVES Perth's renovating angels, MATT and KIM, team up with Carpet Court to lend a helping hand. Australia first fell in love with Matt and Kim when they took on The Block Sky High in 2013. The pair were renowned for their risk taking, great humour and stand out room deliveries (at least, after that infamous rainbow paint-splattered bedroom!), before selling their amazing new apartment for a premium price. Since finishing The Block Sky High, Matt and Kim have taken on plenty of new adventures. Marriage aside, one of their biggest projects has been helping people in need through their Channel 9 show, Matt and Kim to the Rescue. “When we finished The Block Sky High, we wanted to use our new found recognition to help those in need, and create happy projects that might help people in our city and beyond,” explains Matt. “We have enough celebrities, we don't have enough happy people.” Throughout the seasons, the vibrant Perth couple have made a difference to inspiring families who needed help. It’s no wonder they’ve been dubbed the “renovating angels”! But even after all the life-changing renovations, nothing could have prepared viewers for the beautiful story that unfolded in the season finale when the loveable Blockheads, along with hundreds of volunteers, changed the lives of Ruth and Ray of Herne Hill. A mother of two, Ruth first battled brain cancer then, years later, suffered a stroke that paralysed half of her body and put her in a wheelchair.60 | designHub

After investing all of their savings into caring for his wife, Ruth’shusband, 55-year-old Ray put everybody before himself. He’spaying off his son’s debt, giving his son a deposit for a house,nursing his wife in his few spare hours and caring for his sickfather daily.“Ray and Ruth lost their savings, their dreams and, with that, theirhome fell apart. They needed help, but would never ask for it.
