INFINITIVE The present infinitive has two forms 1.the to-infinitive = to + base verb (to run) (Infinitive with to) 2.the zero infinitive = base verb (run) (Infinitive without to)

INFINITIVE WITH TO 1. Act as noun Subject  To dance is my passion.  To learn a new language is helpful.  To play with fire is dangerous.  To act like that is not nice.

INFINITIVE WITH TO 1. Act as noun Complement  To teach is to share.  Her job is to assist you.  My dream is to open a business.

INFINITIVE WITH TO 1. Act as noun Object  She wants to learn Italian.  Chanatip loves to play football.  He hopes to see me.  I intend to finish my homework before 4 pm.

INFINITIVE WITH TO(2) 2. Act as adjective  My desire to win is strong.  I will bring the book to read.  I told you to wait!  He wants me to leave.

INFINITIVE WITH TO(3) 3. Act as adverb  We must study to learn.  I want to learn to sing.  I’m going to store to buy some snacks.  It’s hard to decide.

INFINITIVE WITHOUT TO We also use the infinitive without to after… ▪ feel watch Help me find my ring. ▪ Help see Let me go, please. ▪ hear let Don’t make me cry. ▪ make ▪ would rather had better

INFINITIVE WITHOUT TO(2) Use after the auxiliary (verb to do) or Modal Verb (will, would, should, can, could, may, might, must)  I can swim.  You should go now.  I can play the guitar.  Tom will go to London next week.
