Hymns A&M 169 Is the feast-day of the LORD; My God, how wonderful thou art, All is pure and all is holy A&M 623 Thy majesty how bright, That within thy walls is stored. Give us the wings of faith to rise How beautiful thy mercy-seat, Within the veil, and see In depths of burning light! There no cloud nor passing vapour The saints above, now great their joys How wonderful, how beautiful, Dims the brightness of the air; How bright their glories be The sight of thee must be, Endless noon-day, glorious noon-day, Thine endless wisdom, boundless power, From the Sun of suns is there: Once they were mourning here Below, And awful purity! There no night brings rest from labour, And wet their couch with tears; For unknown are toil and care. They wrestled hard , as we do now, Yet I may love thee too, O Lord, With sins and doubt, and fears Almighty as thou art, Oh, how glorious and resplendent, For thou hast stoop’d to ask of me Fragile body, shalt thou be, We ask them whence their victory came The love of my poor heart. When endued with so much beauty, They with united breath Full of health, and strong, and free. Ascribe their conquest to the lamb Father of Jesus, love’s reward, Full of vigour, full of pleasure Their triumph to his death What rapture will it be, That shall last eternally! Prostrate before thy throne to lie, They mark’d the footsteps that he trod And gaze and gaze on thee. Now with gladness, now with courage, His zeal inspired their breast Bear the burden on thee laid, And following their incarnate God, A&M 232 That hereafter these thy labours They reach’d the promised rest. LIGHT’S abode, celestial Salem, May with endless gifts be paid; Vision whence true peace doth spring, And in everlasting glory Our glorious Leader claims our praise Brighter than the heart can fancy, Thou with brightness be array’d. For His own pattern give, Mansion of the Highest King; While the great cloud of witnesses Laud and honour to the FATHER, Show the same path to heaven. Oh, how glorious are the praises Laud and honour to the SON, Which of thee the prophets sing! Laud and honour to the SPIRIT, 76 GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN There for ever and for ever Ever THREE and ever ONE, Alleluia is out – pour’d; Consubstantial, Co-eternal, For unending, for unbroken, While unending ages run.

A&M 240 Sun and shield alike Thou art; A&M HYMN 27 Pleasant are Thy courts above Guide and guard my erring heart. ABIDE with me; Fast falls the eventide In the land of light and love; Grace and glory flow from Thee; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide Pleasant are Thy courts below Shower, O shower them, Lord, on me When other helpless fail and comforts flee In this land of sin and woe. Help Of the helpless, O abide with me. O my spirit longs and faints A&M HYMN 401 For the converse of Thy saints, Now the labourer’s task is o’er; Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day; For the brightness of Thy face, Now the battle day is past; Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away; For Thy fullness, God of grace. Now upon the farther shore Change and decay in all around I see; Lands the voyager at last O Thou, Who changest not, abide with me. Happy birds that sing and fly FATHER, in thy gracious keeping Round Thy altars, O Most High; Leave we now thy servant sleeping. I need Thy Presence every passing hour; Happier souls that find a rest What but Thy grace can foil the tempest’s power? In a heavenly Father’s breast! There the tears of earth are dried Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be? Like the wandering dove that found There the hidden things are clear Through cloud and sunshine, LORD, abide with me. No repose on earth around, There the work of life is tried They can to their ark repair By the juster judge than here I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless; And enjoy it ever there. Father, in thy gracious keeping His have no weight, and tears no bitterness; Leaving we now thy servant sleeping. Where is death’s sting? Where, Grave, thy victory? Happy souls, their praises flow I triumph still, if Thou abide with me. Even in this vale of woe; “Earth to earth, and dust to dust” Waters in the desert rise, Calmly now the word we stay Hold Thou Thy Cross before my closing eyes; Manna feeds them from the skies; Leaving him to sleep in trust Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies; On they go from strength to strength Till the resurrection day Heav’n’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee, Till they reach Thy throne at length, Father in thy gracious keeping In life, in death, O LORD, abide with me. At Thy feet adoring fall, Leave we now thy servant sleeping. Who hast led them safe through all. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN 77 Lord, be mine this prize to win; Guide me through a world of sin, Keep me by Thy saving grace, Give me at Thy side a place.
