JUNIOR SCHOOL SPORT INFORMATION BOOKLET Nov 22
WELCOME FROM THE HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL SPORT Dear Parents/Guardians/Care Givers I would like to welcome all Junior School families to what promises to be a sport filled year. The sporting program in the Junior School is an important component of your child’s education at Redlands and is essential to their holistic formation. It has been developed to allow students to participate in a variety of sports and is aimed at accommodating each students’ interests and talents. The program encourages our students to cooperate with others and to learn how to contribute to a team and support each other. Sport programs offered by both Redlands and other Independent schools within our IPSHA Organisation are very different to those programs offered in club sport, rep sport and academies. There are no league tables, no finals and students play under modified rules to cater for the various ability levels. The aim is exposure to new sports and enjoyment through participation. Redlands recognises the importance of physical wellbeing and this starts in the Junior School - ensuring that sport, health and fitness are fundamentals of each student’s lifestyle from a young age. Redlands students can select from a wide range of summer and winter sports with both representative and non-representative opportunities as well as extra-curricular sports programmes. The information in this package aims to give you an insight into the Junior School sports program and the interschool sport competitions. Please read through the information and should you require any more information please feel free to visit the Junior School Sport Pages on Redlands Pulse. Notifications from the Sport Department will sent via the Redlands App. I look forward to seeing you soon and welcoming you and your children to Redlands.
