Senior Music Festival 2022

JOY! Isn’t this what the whole world needs a bit more of right now? Over millennia, music has been the salve for ills and the overflow of elations: songs of peace, anthems for social change, melodies to calm, songs to amuse, works that inspire… Tonight, we look forward to sharing a journey with you, our audience, as we celebrate the gift that music is to the human experience. There is no doubt that tonight’s theme gives us an epic catalogue to select from, though (in favour of a non-Wagnerian length show) we’ve focused on some of the highlights of the last couple of centuries: moments that have been deemed by mass consensus to be some of the Greatest Of All Time. Our show kicks off with the boldest of visions from 18th century poet Friedrich Schiller that still resonates today in the peace-keeping parts of the world: ‘Alle Menschen Werden Brüder’ That all mankind will become brothers is perhaps one of the greatest aspirations of all time.
