What’s New at Camco… Winter Edition A warm welcome (well not so warm as I write this!) to our Winter Edition of “What’s News…”. You will notice we have moved with the times and gone ELECTRONIC! The year, as all years, is rocketing by and there is plenty of action here at Camco. The end of financial year finished with the usual rush to complete the work by the 30th, despite the drizzly weather. I think it is time we all petitioned to have the calendar year and financial year end concurrently, that way we would make the most of the good weather and only go insane once a year rather than the twice we currently do!. I mentioned the action previously, this edition outlines some of the exciting new projects we have on the horizon. Awelcome change for this time of year which so often sees July and August being very quiet. Thanks again toyou all for the ongoing support and I hope you find this an interesting read....Chris Goold, Director Our Vision: ‘To be the most professional, high performance team that attracts highly motivated, like minded, passionate peopleIn-house NewsWe welcome back Liz Seychell from maternity leave and wish her all the best as shesettles back into the workforce and re-joins the admin team as Project FinanceManager. Annual Golf TournamentOn Friday 8th April we held our inaugural Camco GolfTournament at the West Lakes Golf Club. It was a great day,if not great golf (myself excluded who brought newmeaning to the “longest drive” – apparently it has to landon the correct fairway? Strict rules of golf!).The prizes were taken out by the serious golfers who unfortu-nately guaranteed themselves never to get another invite. The event was a huge success and will be a regular fixtureon our calendar of events.CMS Update... Another financial year has drawn to a close. We are busy collating quality, safety, and environmental data for our end of year report. Anecdotal evidence at this time indicates that our focus on reducing damage to underground infrastructure in the last 12 months has been relatively successful. Service strike incidents are significantly down on previous years in both number and severity. The year has not been without its challenges though, and as a result, we are commencing a review of our management systems in order to streamline and improve our processes especially as they relate to the new ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standard. The aim is to improve process efficiency and ultimately provide greater value for money to our current andfuture clients. On a final positive note, Camco has finished the financial year with no lost time injuries, no environmentalincidents, and overall positive feedback from clients on completed projects. These are excellent indicators ofthe commitment of our site personnel to Camco’s core values and to the provision of quality services. Camco is currently accredited to:- ISO9001:2008 – Quality Management AS/NZS 4801:2010 – Health & Safety Management ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management InnovationWe are determined to continually enhance the way we operate be it on site or in the office by challenginghow we do things to find better, more effective and efficient solutions. This creates an environment to lead ininnovative thinking and creative problem solving. There is no innovation without taking initiatives – we strive tobe one step ahead. PassionWe dedicate our energy and aspiration to exceed our clients’ needs and expectations. A successful passion-ate environment creates trust in confident decisions and positive actions in line with our vision, which reinforc-es belief in Camco. What’s New....Various Railway Stations – Tactile Replacements, Department of Planning, Transport & InfrastructureCamco has been engaged to carry out an upgrade to tactile ground surface indicators at various railwayplatforms. The platforms at Noarlunga, and Christies Downs Stations are constructed with concrete. Theproject scope at these locations is to retro fit tactiles that are produced from the unique combination of corkgranules and rubber, the tactiles are installed 600 mm from the platform edge using an epoxy adhesive, this isfollowed by re-installing the “wait behind” linemarking. This work is carried out on a live rail, with the use ofpedestrian management, track protection officers and the careful management of the rolling stock via PTSnetwork operations. The scope at Pinera, Glenalta, Emerson, Hove and Clarence Park stations includes the removal of existingrubber tactile indicators that have become worn and created trip hazards, the work involves excavation andremoval of the rubber tactiles, bitumen and rubble from the platform, preparation of the base and theinstallation of new concrete tactile indicators followed by the matching in to the existing platform with newbitumen and re-installing the “wait behind” linemarking, the challenge here is the work needs to beconducted in a live rail environment but also under the live electrical infrastructure a carefully formulated safeworks methodology was critical.Parawa Road, Parawa and Finnis Vale Drive, Second Vallery Culvert Upgrades,District Council of YankalillaCamco were engaged by the District Council of Yankalilla to remediate two stormwater crossings within theircity road network, one at Parawa and the other at Second Valley. The existing headwall structures wereshowing signs of failure and had potential to collapse. Following construction of the new inlet and outlet pipeextensions and headwalls, the banks and creek channels were reshaped and rock lined to better direct watermovement and avoid undermining and washout. The project met the client’s expectations in terms of time, cost and quality and was excellent result for all involved.

Shared Use Path Linear Park, City of West TorrensCamco have been engaged to upgrade the existing shared use path that runs under Henley Beach Road, parallel to the River Torrens. The project scope includes widening the existing path and installing a recycledplastic boardwalk and balustrade fence with handrails under the bridge, the scope also includes, geoweberosion control, a full upgrade to the public lighting and the replacement of existing asphalt.Burnside Primary School Hardplay Upgrade, Spotless Service LimitedThis project entailed the upgrade of the existing hardplay area consisting of approximately 1400m2 in theBurnside Primary School. The project scope included the reconstruction of the existing granular pavements, tree removal, concrete kerbing, block retaining walls, regrading of paving, drainage improvements and linemarking. This project involved careful planning and logistics associated whilst working within an active schoolduring construction. The significant trees around this hardplay upgrade meant that strict guidelines duringconstruction where adhered to and a garden bed was created around tree protection zone using a raisedblock retaining wall. Construction was undertaken and completed in April.

Bolivar Midge Fly Vegetation Screen Stage 3, SA WaterConstruction is well underway now, with all new pipelines complete, tanks and pumping equipment installed, and electrical items being energised. Site Testing is due to commence mid June with operational handoverfollowing this. We have overcome some design hurdles throughout this project, the most significant being thenominated tie in location of the pipeline had insufficient water flow to meet the demand of the new installa-tion. Therefore we had to investigate an alternative supply, check the flow rate at the new tie in point, andthen construct a 150m extension of the pipe network to the new tie in. The new pipeline route had logisticalissues as it crossed the main entrance road into the WWTP, therefore an extensive Traffic Management Planwas developed in conjunction with Allwater who manage and maintain normal operation of the WWTP.Inner SanctumBill Boumis (aka Billy), OperatorCamco family member since... 2012Family Life...
