Naming Conventions for Social Media Accounts Presentation to the btc Inc Board Jennifer Pickett VP Communications btc Inc.
Consistency and Recognition Instagram If the desire is to have our organization appear as one unified entity, with separate regional Leagues, then I propose we unify the account names for both Instagram and Facebook. This change would be a one time adjustment for most Leagues and a standard practice for naming League accounts moving forward. Be sure to change the links on your website, accounts, newsletter templates, etc. Time needed - ten minutes. Inc VP Comm can adjust the IG information for each League, if necessary.
Naming Convention - Instagram Instagram names can include commas, but have to be under 30 characters so we will use “btc” to allow space for longer League names. Each League will Name its Instagram account “btc” followed by a comma, followed by the name of the full official name of the League. Ex: “btc, Walnut Creek League” IG Usernames are also limited to 30 characters, Website domain names will be updated by CW no commas, but periods and underscores are shortly. Be sure to check and update accordingly. allowed. Bios should be consistent as well. Please use the Each League will have a Username of “btc” example above so boys team charity is connected to followed by the full official name of the League the account. Bios must be under 150 words. written as one word. Do not abbreviate “la” for Los Angeles. This will match the FB username. Also, a company with “btc” in its name located in a regional area won’t conflict because they won’t have “league” at the end. It’s also important that we use league to show the purpose of our group since we aren’t using “boys team charity.” Ex: “btcwalnutcreekleague”
Naming Convention - Facebook Name - Each League will name its Facebook account “boys team charity ____ League” so as to differentiate from the “boys team charity, Inc” account. *I’m working on whether or not this can be a comma or not. FB doesn’t like starting a page name with a lowercase letter and is giving me trouble because of it. Username for each League will be “btc” followed by the League name as one word. For example: “btcwalnutcreekleague.” FB usernames cannot contain commas. Website domain names will be updated by CW shortly. Be sure to check and update accordingly. Description should be consistent as well. Please use the example above so boys team charity is connected to the account. Bios must be under 150 words.
The last thing I’d like to propose is a hashtag campaign. #iambtc #wearebtc Something like this. Ideas?
