The UVic English Language Centre: Celebrating 50 years! 1970 1987 First summer language programs offered to ELC begins offering long-term English students from French-speaking Canada as part of program: “ELPI” (12-weeks). the “Explore” government scholarship program. 2006 2003 Homestay department receives “Lyn Howes Award” for excellence (CAUCE). ELC moves across campus to the newly- constructed Continuing Studies Building! 2012 2008 ELC launches the UVic Pathways program, one of the first pathways programs of its ELC launches Monthly English program.
