FAMERS WORLD NEWSLETTER /  ISSUE 2 August 1st, 2018NEW FARMERS WORLD STORESOh yes, we are expanding. As a business, growth is one of our primary objectives. And thanks to our team's hard work anddedication, we're indeed moving forward, making the Farmers World footprint in Malawi even bigger. We've opened 3 new stores at Luwarezi in Mzimba, Mpamba in Nkhatabay and Mayani in Nkhoma. Soon we will also beopening another store in Ntchisi. Plans for the Ntchisi store are already at an advanced stage.Just like any other business, we also face challenges. Among those saw the closing down of Area 4 and Sinyala FarmersWorld stores due to stiff competition in their respective environments.  Farmers World now has 76 stores across the northern and central regions. INTRODUCING FMCG TO FARMERS WORLDWe've always associated FarmersWorld stores with agricultural andhardware items, but that's about tochange. We'll soon be launchingkey Fast Moving Consumer Good(FMCG) lines in 15 of our FarmersWorld stores on the 1st ofSeptember. These stores will stock groceriesthat households require on aregular basis such as cooking oil, salt, sugar, SOBO squash, PowerFlour, biscuits and soap etc. To announce our arrival on theFMCG scene, we're launching thisconcept with the full support ofsuppliers by giving away 15 bicyclesand other consolation prizes.2 Feedback: [email protected]

It was early in the morning, around 02:00hrs when eight criminals appeared at Malomo branch, attempting to break  into the store. Paulo fought back against the intruders to prevent  them from gaining access to the store. It is certain that the Zavuta Paulo's bravery prevented the break in and theft of company properties at the branch despite the fact that the criminals outnumbered him.  Paulo also prevented a similar incident in 2013. FAMERS WORLD NEWSLETTER  /  ISSUE 2 August 1st, 2018FARMERS WORLD TEAM BUILDING CONFERENCEWe recognize the significance of teamwork as one ofthe ingredients of an organization's success, and thatthe whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It is forthis reason we have focused on leadership and teamspirit at branch level with the recently held teambuilding conference. In June, management staff held conferences inDedza, Kasungu, Mchinji, Salima and Mzuzu engagingwith the branch managers on expectations aroundfinance, procurement, marketing, merchandising andoperations and to set best practice expectations forthe new financial year.To illustrate the importance of team work, branch 1managers played competitive games whichemphasized the need for team work andcommunication in order to succeed. Spot prizes wereup for grabs and the teams were highly competitive inactivities such as 'walk the plank' and a Superfertsack race (which also demonstrated the strength ofthe new bags). Branch managers as well as their staff were treated with Superfert branded t-shirts and caps, thanks to the support renderedto us by our sister company Malawi Fertilizer Company.  See on page 10 how the branch managers and their staff are rockingtheir Superfert t-shirts. 24 Feedback: [email protected]
