SOME OF US YOUNGER FULL TIME STAFF HAD GOTTEN TOGETHER TO SEE IF WE COULD DO SOMETHING FOR CHRISTMAS FOR THE CHURCH COMMUNITY. SINCE WE WERE STILL VERY MUCH IN THE TIME OF THE PANDEMIC, WE KNEW THAT THE CHURCH WOULD BE UNABLE TO CARRY OUT THE CHRISTMAS EVENTS THAT WE HAD DONE FOR SO MANY YEARS BEFORE. We met the subcommittee members for the first 漫漫长路 time on 25th of October. The communication between the full time workers and the sub committee members was not as smooth as we envisioned, and it was only when we did our post project evaluation with them that we realized that most of them had experienced quite some frustration over this. It was difficult to balance giving them a very clear direction (which might have led to the younger sub committee feeling their creativity was stifled) and providing only a ‘skeletal plan’ and allowing them room to flesh out the idea in their own ways (which led to them feeling lost at times). 56

The programme was not over though, because even when we finished our Drive Thru on the 24th, we still had to get ready for the next day’s series of Christmas rallies. That went smoother than we expected, however. And so we finally ended our Christmas project, tired but happy. 59

Sometimes, when organizing events, it is difficult to truly know how much of an impact that we have made. Indeed, there were times when we feel ecstatic about the people that we were potentially reaching, and also times when we doubted if what we did would actually bring the gospel to the people. What we do know is that: “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
