She is the first gymnast from India who competed in the Olympics. She also won a bronze medal at the Asian Gymnastics Championships and finished fifth at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, both firsts for her country. His best-known works include Demian, Steppenwolf, Siddhartha, and The Glass Bead Game, each of which explores an individual's search for authenticity, self-knowledge and spirituality. In 1946, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Hesse's Siddhartha is one of the most popular Western novels set in India. During the last twenty years of his life, Hesse wrote many short stories (chiefly recollections of his childhood), poems and ironic essays. He died on 9 August 1962 in Switzerland. Trailokyanath Chakraborty (2 August 1889 – 9 August 1970), was an Indian independence activist and politician. As a leader and collaborator with other renowned freedom fighters, he contributed to the freedom of India. Out of his 80 years of life, he spent 30 years in prison. Some of his years in jail was after Indian independence in Bangladesh, which was under Pakistan control, after partition of India into India and Pakistan. He died on 9 August 1970 in New Delhi, India. Cecil Frank Powell (5 December 1903 – 9 August 1969), was a British physicist, and Nobel Prize in Physics laureate for heading the team that developed the photographic method of studying nuclear processes and for the resulting discovery of the pion (pi- meson), a heavy subatomic particle. In 1928 Powell was appointed research assistant at the Henry Herbert Wills Physical Laboratory at the University of Bristol. Between 1939 and 1945 he developed the necessary techniques for using sensitive photographic emulsions to record the paths of cosmic rays. He died on 9 August 1969 in Italy.
