Letter from the CEO When I started Plumeria, I had no idea what was actually about to begin. I started making bath bombs in my kitchen and Plumeria was born. I had been looking on the internet for events in our area and saw that there was a local event that had space, so I figured why not? If I want to use good quality products for my family, I’m sure there are others out there who want the same. So, we did the event. It went far better than expected and that was the night we named the company. If you’re curious how we came up with the name, we got it from a tissue box. Inspiration is everywhere! We only started with a few products. We learn as we grow, and we are learning even still what works for us and what doesn’t. About six months later, my mother was living with us and she was using a pain cream for her sciatica. It was very overpriced and undeliverable. I really wanted to try to see if I could find something that could replace this cream and be more effective for her. So, I did some research and I came across Magnesium. After a few tries, I had the texture I wanted, and I brought it up to my mom to try. A few hours after she had used it, I went to check on her and I asked how her leg was. She told me she was great and that she really liked the cream I gave her. I thought she was just being nice. My mom was my number one supporter. She didn’t use the other cream again, and thus, Magnesium Cream was born. Since then, we have found many ways our Mag Cream, as we like to call it, has been affecting peoples lives for the better. It has become our best seller. All because of my beautiful mom. I continued to work vendor events and did as many as I could just to get Plumeria’s name out there. One of my high school friends reached out to me and asked, “Have you thought about direct sales, because I would love to sell your stuff.” I hadn’t thought about Direct Sales until then, but it stuck with me and I did some research. We opened the doors for consultants to sell Plumeria soon after and within a few months there were just under 20 women who wanted to sell my products. Within a year of making my first bath bomb, I had created a line of products that not only I was passionate about, but other women and their families were too. I was able to hire my daughter as my assistant and right hand. We were rapidly outgrowing my home and needed to find a bigger space. Here we are years later and we have just under 500 Plums in the United States, and we’ve stretched across the pond to Australia where we have around 250 Plums. We have a US headquarters and an Australian warehouse where we make, package and ship our products. We have plans to open to a few more countries within the next couple of years and hopefully more in the future. Looking back, it’s crazy to think that all of this started because I lost my job and had an addiction to bath products. But who could have imagined that all of this would have been the outcome of one sail boat bath bomb posted to Facebook! Cindy Inman 35
