Khan, Former Vice-Chancellor, Ranchi University, Ranchi Fellow, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India Senior Member, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA      A brief profile…   Anwar A. Khan received the M.Sc. degree in Physics with specialization in Electronics from Science College, Patna University, Patna, India, in 1968 and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics (Circuits and Systems) in 1977 from Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, India.  Dr. Khan worked as a lecturer in electronics from 1969 to 1978 in the Post-Graduate Department of Physics, Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, India. In 1978, he joined Post-Graduate Department of Physics, Ranchi University, Ranchi, India as a Reader in electronics and was promoted to Full University Professor in 1985. From 1983 to 1988 and 1990 to 1995 he was on the faculty of Electrical Engineering Department at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, being on leave from Ranchi University, Ranchi. His teaching and research interests include electrical sensors and devices, switched capacitor network, analog/digital electronics, instrumentation and measurement, computer-aided design of electronic circuits and systems.  Professor Khan has authored and co-authored over 72 scientific papers in the refereed journals of international repute including 17 research publications in IEEE and IEE journals. Dr. Khan has also co-authored a book entitled “A First Course in Electronics” published by Prentice-Hall of India in September 2006.  Professor Khan is a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India, and the Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers; U.S.A. Professor Khan was the Head of University Department of Physics, Ranchi University, from August 1995 to June 2003 and Dean of the Faculty of Science from January 2000 to December 2001.  Professor Khan was nominated for three years (1999-2002) to the Academic Council of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) by the President of India. Also, he was a visitor’s nominee to the Academic Council of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) from July 2009 to June 2012. He is on the “Board of Reviewers” for the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation & Measurement, published by the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, USA. Dr. Khan was Pro- Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University, from 26th June 2004 to 31st December 2005.  Professor Khan has received many prestigious awards for his innovative leadership in the higher-education sector. Some notable awards include:  • Dr. Meghnand Saha Award in 2009 by the Indian Institute of Oriental Heritage, Kolkata, India. • Indian Excellence Award in 2010 by the Indian Institute of Oriental Heritage, Kolkata, India • .Honorary Rank of COLONEL in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in December 2009. • Jharkhand Ratna Award in February 2010 by Lok Seva Samiti, Ranchi • 18th Dewang Mehta “Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education” in November 2010 • Life Time Achievements Award in December 2011 by World Management Congress in New Delhi. • World Education Global Award entitled “Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education” in June 2012 by World Education Congress in Mumbai.  Professor Khan served Ranchi University as Vice- Chancellor for two terms; from 1st January 2006 to 31st December 2008 & from 1st January 2009 to 31st December 2011.  Professor Khan as a Vice-Chancellor of Ranchi University introduced many job-oriented courses and many innovative educational schemes, including schemes of providing free self-financing professional courses to the deserving students belonging to BPL (Below Poverty Line) category.
