KENYA TRAVEL GUIDE Greetings to you from the Operations team in Kenya. We are glad that you are planning a trip here, and are looking forward to welcoming you. This document covers the basics of travelling to Kenya. If you have any specific needs not addressed here, feel free to contact us for questions. Immunization and sanitation: The following link will guide you on the common immunizations recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States: ○ Health Information for Travelers to Kenya You can learn more about immunization recommended for Kenya, as well as other health and safety tips for travelling here, from the following two websites: You will need to either buy mineral water or boil tap water while you are here. Flights: Recommended airlines: From Nepal: Qatar Airlines (RT ~$1,200) - One-stop in Doha From UK: British Airways, Kenya Airways, Qatar, Emirates or KLM (RT ~$1,000) - Direct flights available from LHR on British & Kenya Airways From US: American, Kenya Airways (RT ~$1,400) - Direct flight available from JFK on Kenya Airways Travel Insurance: Your insurance might not cover the cost of evacuation during a medical emergency. As such, it is advised that you look into getting travel insurance for your trip. One of the easiest ways of buying travel insurance is through w ww.insuremytrip.com, alternatively, you could work with your local insurance agent. Entry Procedure: Colleagues who are coming to work in Kenya will need to apply for a S pecial Pass; requirements for the application are as follows: ● 2 passport photos.

  ● CV and diploma/professional certified certificate of the applicant. ● Company's pin copy. ● Company's certificate of incorporation copy. ● Cover letter on letterhead(stamped) -addressed to the Director of Immigration Services. ● Filled form (stamped by the company). ● Applicant passport copy (bio and visa page). If coming for a visit and/or work: ● Option 1-EVisa(Recommended): ○ You will need to apply for your $50 visa online(e-visa), through this portal - Ecitizen. It would be great if you could apply for your e-visa as soon as you confirm your tickets so that we don't rush at the last minute, please follow the steps below when applying for an e-visa: ■ Go to www.evisa.go.ke and click on create eVisa account. ■ Once Logged in, Select the Department of Immigration Services. ■ Select Submit Application. ■ Select Kenyan Visa. ■ Select the type of Visa and read the Instructions Carefully. ■ Fill in the application form. ■ Pay Using visa card, Mastercard and other debit cards. ■ Await approval via email, then download and print the eVisa from your eCitizen account. ■ Present your printed eVisa to the immigration officer at the port of entry. ● Option 2: Application on arrival(Not recommended because the government can discontinue this at any time): ○ You will need the following things to get a visa on arrival: ■ Address and Contact details for your contact person in Kenya(For now you can use Leah or JB’s details, particulars at the end of the document). ■ $21 (Payment must be paid in dollars). ■ Valid Passport (must be valid for at least 6 months). Cash or Card: Check with your bank before travelling to see what fees are involved in the use of foreign ATMs; as well as international fees for using a credit card. Also, you should let them know you will be travelling so that it will not report usage while you’re here as suspicious activity. Depending on the fees from your bank, you may decide whether it is more beneficial to carry cash to exchange or withdraw from local ATMs. Most ATMs here charge a fee for usage. Normally, you cannot take out over $300 per day through an ATM in Kenya. There are a few currency exchange places near the CloudFactory office location such as the W estlands Forex Bureau at the Westgate Shopping Mall.

Things To Bring: These are some things you might want to bring along for your trip: ● Medication (including over-the-counter ones like Tylenol, Tums, etc.) ● Entertainment for a long flight (book, iPad, etc). ● Unlocked cell phone, if you choose to use your own. The office has simple local use phones for use while you are here. ● Electronic devices that can handle both 110 and 220 volts. The voltage in Kenya (and many other countries) is 220-240 volts. US/Canada standard voltage is 110 volts. Some products, such as laptops, are built to handle 110-220 volts so you’re fine to use them in Kenya. Before bringing any device, please make sure they are safe to use on 220-240 volt. ● Hand sanitizer and/or hand wipes travel tissues or toilet paper (These can all be purchased locally but can be convenient to carry along, even to use in the airport and during travel).
