FIRST PUNIC WAR, THE MASSACRE OF THE MOMENT, 241 B.C. Rome felt threatened and wanted all control of Sicily, which was conquered by the centuries old civilization, Carthage. Rome decided to attack them, but with a special tactic. Rome has an incredible army with great soldiers in land, and the Carthaginians are excellent sailors and excellent warriors in the sea. Rome found a wrecked Carthaginian ship, they made hundreds of replicas and outnumbered Carthage's navy. Romans created a ladder-like bridge named the Corvus; which helped the romans get to the enemy ship and attacked them as if they were on land. The First Punic War lasted 23 years and the Romans defeated the Carthaginians. Carthage signed a peace agreement, not so long ago and they are deserting Sicily. I have a feeling that this conflict hasn't ended, Carthage is starting to resent its neighbor empire.
Second Punic War, Hannibal Against Rome, 218 B.C. After 23 years of peace between Rome and Carthage, Hannibal Barca is Carthage's general and after years of resentment he has decided to attack Rome. After the first Punic War, Rome's military became skilled on the sea as well as land, so they controlled the Mediterranian Sea. Because of this Hannibal can't attack Rome through the easiest rout (the Mediterranian), so he has decided to go from Gaul and work his way up to Rome. Hannibal's journey is starting in Gaul; he has been winning battles and is now passing through the Alps with his army and his war elephants. Hannibal is having trouble getting supplies from Carthage, but in spit of tis he has been winning every battle since he started his journey in Gaul, then through the Alps and to the gates of Rome. Hannibal has just arrived at the gates of Rome, because of Hannibal's lack of heavy equipment and only one war elephant he can't enter the city of Rome. Instead he is terrorising the countryside of Northern Italy. Meanwhile, Rome decided to attack Carthage as a strategy to force Hannibal to go home. Hannibal heard about Rome attacking Carthage and returned to Carthage; where he was defeated by Scipio Africanus.
