JUNE 2021 | VOL.1 & 2 1ST MORNINGSIDE SCOUT In this edition: SPRINGBOK HAT TRICK Tarryn's Springbok For a Scout Troop to have one Scout achieve the ultimate advancement - pioneering project Springbok - is a huge achievement. To complete a hat trick not only in one year p2-3 but also amid an unknown pandemic that disrupted Scouting to a large degree is indeed an enormous achievement. Zippity-Doodah p4-5 This is exactly what 1st Morningside achieved. A huge congratulations to Blake Imbert, Tarryn Nitch and Nic Peak. Cubs go hiking Congratulations as well to their families who supported them through a long p6-7 Scouting journey. Where all three these Scouts have already turned 18, and have therefore \"aged Golden Meerkats out\", all we can say is that we will miss you dearly. JUNE 2021 | VOL. 1 & 2 ZIPPITY DOO DAH... Scouts will never pass on an opertunity go go and have fun. Mid-June, a couple of Scouts decided that taking on the Melrose Arch Acrobranch was just the way to have a \"patrol meeting\" while managing social distancing. For some the challenges seem to be easy, while others, although they found it daunting, perservered and did not give up at all. Well done to all.

JUNE 2021 | VOL. 1 & 2 WELCOME TO SCOUTS The official welcome to Scouts has been long overdue for three Cubs who aged up during 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, their official welcome in the form of investment, had to be postponed. But now, in May, we could finally welcome Kean Waterston, Kayla McKinnon and Callista Wood to Scouts. We wish you a wonderful time at Scouts and trust you will enjoy every moment of your journey. Congratulations to Jason Wood for completing his 1st Class. All the best for your Springbok journey.
JUNE 2021 | VOL. 1 & 2 CUBS GO HIKING The Cubs went hiking at Norscot Koppies and Kingfisher Reserve on 13 June. Just a hop, skip and a jump away from Fourways Mall, this reserve is an oasis almost right on our doorstep. Not only could the Cubs stretch their hiking legs, they could learn more about nature, including about buck such as species such as blesbok and duiker that are found there. Well done Cubs!
JUNE 2021 | VOL. 1 & 2 GOLDEN MEERKATS Congratulatios are in order to all the Meerkats who achieved their Golden Star award. This is a huge accomplishment, as Granny Meerkat says, \"We are therefore very proud of the little Meerkats who have succeeded in gaining 16 challenge badges and eight interest badges\". Meerkats who could attend, received their badges from Granny Meerkat on 24 April at the Robin Hills Scout hall. Welcom to Meerkats! Congratulations to Peyton and Sameer who were invested as Meerkats in the second term. Burrowing up Congratulations to all our Meerkats that ‘’Burrowed Up’’ to Cubs during the first term. Aniki, Emily, Oliver, Cameron, Liam & Katie, we are really proud of you.
JUNE 2021 | VOL. 1 & 2 THESE BOOTS GO... TRAIN RIDING... Well done to our Meekats who have been, well, busy. They had a fantastic time doing anything from riding trains at the Florida Trainyard, to hiking at Rietfontein (a very long 3 km hike... remember a Meerkat's legs is still short...), and working on badges such as cooking, scientist, Little Helper and learning to be Proudly South African!
