6 SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY GRADUATION 2022 MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY 2022 Dr. Marshall E. Schott President of Sampoerna University Remarks for Graduation To the class of 2022, let me start by saying that we are very proud of your accomplishments and wish you all the best for your graduation day and beyond. We know this has been a difficult and challenging journey. But your hard work and perseverance has paid off. Again, congratulations to our 164 graduates of the class of 2022. On behalf of Sampoerna University, I also want to congratulate and thank the parents and the families of the class of 2022. We appreciate the trust that you have placed in us to educate your sons and daughters. I want to thank our exceptional faculty and staff who work hard every day so that you could be at this moment of your graduation. And finally, I want to thank our colleagues and friends on the University Council and at the Putera Sampoerna Foundation. Without their unwavering commitment and support of our mission to provide the very best higher education experience in Indonesia, we would not be here today. As we exit the global pandemic, we can reflect on how it changed the world and how it disrupted your studies at Sampoerna University. Seemingly overnight, the world turned upside down and we had to learn to live, to study and to teach during long periods of isolation and regular quarantines. We learned about online learning and you learned about Canvas. Many of us lost colleagues, friends, and family to the scourge of COVID-19. For those who lost loved ones, our thoughts and prayers are with you. (1/2)

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY 7 MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY 2022 Dr. Marshall E. Schott President of Sampoerna University The global pandemic was and is a generational crisis. It provided everyone with an opportunity to look at the world in a totally different way and ask the truly important questions “what do I value? what really matters?” It forced us to let go of our preconceived notions of everyday life and adapt to life as it unfolds around us. For all of the human suffering, for all of the change, for all of the damage that was wrought by the Coronavirus, there is a silver lining. Some of life’s greatest lessons come from these kinds of events. We're reminded that without our health, we have nothing. We find a stronger appreciation for the things that we've lost, for the things that we no longer have. The most important thing we all learned was the importance of family, friends and loved ones. We rarely get to choose the context of how we learn these lessons, but we can choose how to react to them. With that in mind, let me urge you to move forward with a greater sense of empathy and of kindness toward others. For we never know when our world might get disrupted again Finally, I want to personally thank each and every one of you, the graduating class of 2022, for demonstrating unprecedented resilience, determination and spirit during these extraordinary times. I also want to remind you that as graduates of Sampoerna University, you have an obligation to reflect our commitment to excellence, leadership, responsible stewardship and positive change. I urge all of you to set out to achieve the highest levels of your professions and to continue to distinguish yourselves as change-makers. Again, congratulations to the class of 2022. Thank you and good luck! (2/2)

We are currently living in an unprecedented situation when the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting us globally. You have managed to graduate despite the adversarial conditions. That is a testament to your perseverance and dedication. Keep in mind as you head out, either to the working world or to continue your study, that what you have achieved during your study at Sampoerna University are only some of the tools that you can put in your life toolbox. You finally come to the end of your study, the last stage of being FoE students. Looking back at what you went through, you can reflect your stories over the past few years and learn how you overcame the challenges to complete your study. Today you deserve a victorious moment for what you accomplished, and for the prospects that lie ahead. You must share this joy with your family, friends, and loved ones since their prayers, and support have accompanied you in the journey. You must also thank to your donor, HoDs, lecturers, academic advisors, and staffs. Appreciate what they contributed to your success, ensuring you come to this moment. They worked tirelessly to help you complete your study, and to make the graduation special for you, amid the pandemic. Graduating students, We conclude several stages in lives, and naturally, we have opportunity to evaluate the stages. Do you know why? Because everything becomes clear when something is at the end. MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 17 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 Vania Katherine Mulia, S.T. Top graduate, Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dear my fellow graduates, class of 2022, Let me begin my greetings by saying this: WE ALL MADE IT! I am sure that the 4 years of studying at this university wasn’t always easy for us (some of us had it shorter or longer, nevertheless the idea is the same). The journey of pursuing a bachelor’s degree surely wasn’t always smooth sailing. We had faced many obstacles, failed many tests, felt tired or lost many times. Yet, despite every difficulty that we may had faced, in the end, we survived. In fact, we thrived. I am sure that during our time in this university, we have learned so much – not just in knowledge and skills, but also in values and attitude. We have also gained a lot: friends, connections, experiences, perhaps confidence – you name it. From the get-go, we met new friends who soon became our comrades in walking this learning journey, sharing joy and struggles together. At the same time, we learned what it really means to accept differences, help each other, and work together towards a common goal. Most of us have also participated in organizations and/or student activity units, where we were drilled for our soft skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, project management, and time management. Some of us may also had the opportunity to join competitions, where we learned what it takes to compete, stay focused, and give 100% effort. Or perhaps some of us were able to do research work or internships and discovered new hard skills that you never thought before. The point is that I believe all the accumulated experiences and lessons that we got in this university have shaped us and helped us become a better, more mature person, ready to tackle on “the real jungle” that we are facing now. (1/2)

18 SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY GRADUATION 2022 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 Vania Katherine Mulia, S.T. Top graduate, Faculty of Engineering and Technology In this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to Sampoerna University for allowing me to experience international education and all of the opportunities that came with it, all while receiving a scholarship. I would like to thank everybody at SU (lecturers, staffs, etc.) for the continuous support, both academically and non-academically. Most heartfelt gratitude goes to my parents for always supporting me in whatever I do. And finally, I want to give a special shoutout to my friends in FET, especially fellow Mechanical Engineering graduates; thank you for making my undergraduate journey worthwhile! Finally, my fellow 2022 graduates, we have just ended a chapter in life, yet at the same time, we are also beginning a new journey. Thus, no matter where our next paths take us, let us walk the next journey with our heads held high. They say, “the world is your oyster”, so grab every good opportunity coming your way, and practice everything you have learned. Remember to always strive for the best, but also stay humble and grateful. Most importantly, let us work on creating an impact to the people around us, wherever we are. I hope we can all stay in touch, and see you on top! (2/2)

MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 19 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 Ni Nyoman Sekarini, S.M. Top Graduates, Faculty of Business Congratulation to all my fellow grads and family. We made it. Now the moment we have been waiting for years has finally come, and we should be proud of that. You all deserve a pat on the back and a big hug as well. Looking back on these past four years, I just want to say times flew so fast. It felt like just a couple of months ago, we were in a white shirt and black trousers, joining the new students' orientation. Back then, we were just innocent high school graduates who knew nothing about what we would do at college. Now we are a new individual who are ready to contribute to our nation and be part of agent of change. Over these past four years, we have grown so much. We were a blank paper that now have turn into the best version of ourselves in our own definition. We have past and failed hundered tess like quizez, mindterm test, final term test, TOEFL test, and on top of all the thesis defense. And also a honorable mention goes to pert test and accuplacer test to refersh your memory of how “beautiful” our freshman year back then in colllege ready test era. I came to the conclusion that all those things that we went through during our college life finally shaped us to become agile and resilient individuals. That always gives us a reason to recall that memory and remind ourselves of how great we can be as long as we believe in ourselves. In life, especially life after college, many things will make us doubt ourselves. Something we all have in common in this phase of life is going through a state where we will we hear more Nos than yesses. However, if we are willing to see rejection from a different lens, it's actually a pill that makes us stronger. The uncomfortable feeling due to failure fuels us to never give up on our goal by finding another direction that can lead us to our goal. (1/2)

20 SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY GRADUATION 2022 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 Ni Nyoman Sekarini, S.M. Top Graduates, Faculty of Business Failure doesn’t mean that we are incapable but maybe because we are not ready yet, so we have to be redirected to prepare ourselves to become resilient and become the best version of ourselves that will be able to take responsibility for our dreams that become true. Also, it might redirect us to a bigger thing we might never dream of. At the end of the day, when our hard work is accumulated, it will bring us closer and closer to our dream. Another important life lesson that i want to you all know is that our worth should not be defined by the validation we get from how much money we earn a month, what companies we land a job at, or what post-graduate schools we go to, but it more on how we accept our self in victory and failure and how we love ourself regardless. Last but not least, I want you to remember that nor man perfected without trials and failure, so keep spreading our wings untill we soar so high in the sky. And people be like, look up in the sky, it’s a bird, it's a plane! (2/2)

MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 21 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 Ni Kadek Sri Widiastuti, S.Pd. Top Graduates, Faculty of Education Hello, my fellow graduates! How’s everything going? It's been a while since our graduation ceremony, isn't it? Well, I'm sure you all did better. I am happy to hear endless good news and success stories from you all even before the graduation day, and it is still going on. Congratulations everyone, you guys nailed it! You have worked hard to get to this point, and this is a milestone that you should be proud of because I know that we, you all and I, have encountered a lot. Let's bring the memories back, remembering what we have been through. Undoubtedly, there were moments of ups and downs, with joyful success and depressing failure stories, which unknowingly made this college journey a significant phase in our lives. Nowadays, maybe the friend you share your story with is a stranger you met four years ago, the person you consider to be your second parent or your best friend is the lecturer you avoided before, or the job you've always dreamed of keeping you working overtime almost every day. Right? These are all proof that our experiences in college have led us to meaningful new things. I hope that all of you have now achieved your goals, whether it's at work, continuing your studies, or in other ways. However, I realize that not everyone has an easy storyline. Perhaps there are still those who struggle to reach their goals after making many failures, including me at this time. Don't worry, we just need to keep trying and doing the same or better things as before. Like, we all have moments when we fail in our university journey, right? It can be moments of struggle with the PERT test, unsatisfactory exam scores, messy group work, a D/F in a course, being rejected in interviews, and so on. I know them all. But, guess what? We can get through all of that. (1/2)

22 SAMPOERNA UNIVERSITY GRADUATION 2022 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 MESSAGE FROM TOP GRADUATES 2022 Ni Kadek Sri Widiastuti, S.Pd. Top Graduates, Faculty of Education The thing is we never stop at one failure and try to improve ourselves. Therefore, now, if any of you, including myself, feels that we have not succeeded in achieving our goals, it's possible that we are still working toward them because things take time. Sometimes, it takes a lot of trial and practice. As one of my favorite idols, as my role model, BTS Jungkook, said, \"It may take time, but there's nothing that gets worse due to practicing.\" So, keep practicing and trying. Also, people often say \"don't look back, focus on what you are doing now\" to achieve your goals. Maybe it was suggested to prevent us from lingering in failure because there are still plenty of opportunities. However, sometimes we also need to look at the past to reflect on ourselves, to look back on how we were able to manage those feelings to realize that it was okay to fail. It is totally fine. When we are unsure of what we are actually pursuing, we might stop and take a break. Stop running for nothing, and when the time is right, begin again. It's a bit hard, to be honest, to speak here as one of the representatives, especially for the faculty of education. I'm sure all of them, my friends, must have at least a few things to say, one for sure is to express gratitude to Sampoerna University for providing us with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Personally, Sampoerna University, especially the Faculty of Education, gave me a lot of new learning which at some point became my turning point to be better. Not only a smart learning environment, but also a warm, supportive family. I couldn't thank the lecturers enough for what they have taught and shared. Also, as a full scholarship student, I am grateful to the donors because with this scholarship I can complete this undergraduate study. Hopefully, more and more people will be helped and benefit from Sampoerna University's educational opportunities in the future. I’d want to close this by thanking my supportive friends; I can't wait to get together again and exchange stories once more. (2/2)
