Team Newsletter #Lift’emUP #BELIEVE Dec 2022 - Issue 5 Varsity Holiday Party 2022 MINDFULNESS JOY DEDICATION GRATITUDE

Jr. Varsity Holiday Party 2022 Thank you to Pena Family and Servello Family for hosting our teams MINDFULNESS JOY DEDICATION GRATITUDE

RESULTS Varsity Results Tarpons 3 South Fort Myers 1 (6-3-1) (3-2-1) GK - Luke Wadsworth 6 saves Scoring: Kade Pena (School Record :05) 1 goal, 1 assist, Levi Wooten 1 goal (game winner), Deacon Powell 1 goal, Thomas Forte 1 assist (for the school record), Cameron Briggs 1 assist. Man of the Match - Jared Bagen Lift em Up - Thomas Forte Dirty Shirt - Parker Dye Silver Spoke- Levi Wooten Another wild and exciting game. Kade Pena, assisted by Thomas Forte, scored the first goal of the match in 5 seconds, for a new school record for fastest goal. Levi Wooten scored three and half minutes later to give us a 2 -0 lead. We gave up a long shot that just hit under the bar to get the match to 2-1. A questionable “blue card” put us down a man for the next 50 minutes. We showed “Grit” and “Resilience” as we continued to attack. Deacon Powell took advantage of a late opportunity to seal this match. It was a great team effort tonight and the confidence of this group is rising. JV Results Tarpons 0 South Fort Myers 0 (1-3-1) Man of the Match: Rik Carrillo-Harmen Lift em Up: Ethan Parziale Dirty Shirt: Tre Survello Silver Spoke: Colin Keegan This was another match that our boys had a chance to win. We had strong goalkeeper play from Tre, keeping us in the game. We had some opportunities in the attack that we failed to capitalize on. When this group starts to play “with” each other and not as individuals you will see the offensive production explode.

RESULTS Varsity Results Tarpons 1 Venice 5 (6-4-1) GK - Luke Wadsworth 13 Saves Man of the Match - Braxton Taylor Lift em Up - Deacon Powell Dirty Shirt- Carson Clancy Silver Spoke- Thomas Forte Tonight, was a perfect example of the roller coaster ride we are on. We had the high of Tuesday’s victory and the low of tonight. I expected us to compete a little better than the score indicated. As we continue our journey, we have to look at the positives. Our attitude coming into the 2nd half was great. We played with more JOY and Heart. Deacon exemplified our “lift em up” philosophy by engaging the bench. We will look to close out 2022 on a high! JV Results Tarpons 0 Venice 5 (1-4-2) Man of the Match: Ethan Pazarile, Julian Ortiz Lift em Up: Caleb Ruggier0 Dirty Shirt: Rik Carrillo-Harmen Silver Spoke: Alejandro Cristobal This was one of the best JV teams we will face. When we, as coaches, talk to our young players about working in the off-season, this team is an example of that. Every one of those players are on a competitive team in the off-season. They spend time developing their game. As we watched the team warmup, you could tell by the way they were striking the ball while shooting that they play more than 4 months a year. We have to recognize commitment.

RESULTS Varsity Results Imagine 0 Tarpons 8 (7-4-1) GK - Luke Wadsworth 2 saves - 1st Career Shutout Scoring - Deacon Powell 4 goals (new School Record for goal in a season - currently 17 Flavio Cardenas 2 goals, Jeremiah Munoz 1 goal, Junior Obel 1 goal, 1 assist, Cameron Briggs 3 assist (new school record for assists in a game), Levi Wooten 1 assist, Parker Dye 1 assist, Braxton Taylor 1 assist. Man of the Match - Deacon Powell Lift em Up - Flavio Cardenas Well, that was fun. We focused on quicker play tonight and limited our touches. When we get the ball wide, we create more opportunities. Deacon Powell established a new school record for goals in a season with 5 more games to play. Cameron Briggs set a new standard for assists in a game with 3. Everyone saw a lot of playing time and contributed to this win. The BATTLE of the BRIDGE vs. Port Charlotte was canceled due to inclement weather. We are rescheduling for Thursday, January 5th, 6pm at CHS.

MOTIVAPLTAIOYNERALFEMEOSNDAYS Follow “Greg Winkler” on YouTube. Each Monday there will be a motivational message. These messages are character based and often relate specifically to what is being taught to the team. Do you know what an “Easter Egg” is? Watch for them. JUST DRIBBLIN ABOUT (WORDS FROM COACH WINKLER Just Dribbling About… a message from Coach Winkler Today’s topic - Developing a Standard of play. Often we look at our opponent and we either rise or sink to the level of the competition. When we focus on standings, records, and past performance - there is always the chance for a let-down or upset. Our biggest opponent will always be ourselves. The challenge for us is to pursue a standard of excellence. As a team, we need to decide how we want to play and hold ourselves accountable to that standard. Whether we play a perennial powerhouse or doormat, we need to bring the same intensity and expectation to each game. We have established some team goals and will be focusing on our biggest opponent the rest of this season - OURSELVES. Enjoy your family and friends as we break for the Holidays.
