October 2021 The 21-22 Season #MissionImpossible EVENTS Results The Punta Gorda Mile – We had 8 Varsity and 6 JV players compete in the PG Mile. We helped the athletic department raise 3K for our athletic training program. More importantly, the administration and the athletic boosters observed our team helping to contribute to the Tarpon Athletic Community. We are all in this together. Thank you to those that participated. Top Tarpon Soccer finishers 1. Kade Pena (2nd overall), 2. Christian Velazquez, (4th overall), 3. Cameron Briggs. MINDFULNESS JOY DEDICATION GRATITUDE

EVENTS CONT The Varsity/JV Scrimmage We had a great time Saturday after the PG Mile. Neither team had a substitute and those that were able to make it got an early taste of what their team was going to look like. As a varsity team, we put conditions within the scrimmage, 1 – to see if the boys would follow the instructions from the coach, 2 – to see if we had the prior knowledge to understand the instructions, but mostly to learn a little more about each other. Varsity Awards presented at the end of the Game in our “Winner’s Circle” Man of the Match – Deacon Powell (self-explanatory) Silver Spoke Award – Kade Pena (I am a cyclist. When riding a bicycle, the spokes keep the wheel true and working efficiently. When a spoke breaks the wheel is off center and rubs on the brake pads. This makes it hard to pedal and eventually will cause the tire to blow. This award goes to the player who does the little things without recognition, without them we would not succeed. Dirty Shirt Award – Donovan Hynes, Kisai Torciallas (Those players that exhibit GRIT) Elevator Award – Alex Dawson (encourage teammates, stays upbeat – will be awarded to someone on the bench who lifts their teammates up – we had no subs for the scrimmage) High Five Award – (Sportsmanship during the game – someone who demonstrates towards the opponent) Varsity Team MINDFULNESS JOY DEDICATION GRATITUDE

JUST DRIBBLIN ABOUT (WORDS FROM THE COACH): CULTURE – THE WAY WE DO THINGS HERE Communication is extremely important. I would like to remind the players, once again, that if you have a reason to miss practice, contact your coach before practice. When a player does not show up for practice, this could have an effect on their playing time. If you are not there, someone else is putting in the effort and making an impact. When they do not communicate, they are unexcused for that practice. Excused practices would be family emergency, a doctor or dentist appointment is not a family emergency. Academic issues, making up a test, school meeting, extra help with a tutor or teacher is excused, as long as the coach receives prior notice. A 3-month anniversary with the “new” love of your life is not excused. If you have a club conflict, that should be discussed player to coach. The coaching staff will use TeamSnap, our Facebook page, and this newsletter, to push out as much information as we can. It is your responsibility to read it.
