1 Vị trí địa lý Vị trí, địa hình, khí hậu

Vị trí Thành phố Hạ Long có vị trí địa lý thuộc vùng Đông Bắc Bộ Việt Nam, thuộc địa phận tỉnh Quảng Ninh, cách thủ đô Hà Nội khoảng 170km, bao gồm vùng biển của thành phố Hạ Long, thị xã Cẩm Phả và một phần của huyện đảo Vân Ðồn. Phía tây nam Vịnh giáp đảo Cát Bà, phía đông là biển, phần còn lại giáp đất liền với đường bờ biển dài 120 km. Diện tích toàn Vịnh khoảng 1500 km2, với hơn 3000 hòn đảo, đá, vách đá và hang động

Địa hình Thành phố Hạ Long có địa hình đa dạng và phức tạp, đây cũng là một trong những khu vực hình thành lâu đời nhất trên lãnh thổ Việt Nam, địa hình ở đây bao gồm cả đồi núi, thung lũng, vùng ven biển và hải đảo, được chia thành 3 vùng rõ rệt gồm có: Vùng đồi núi bao bọc phía bắc và đông bắc, vùng ven biển ở phía nam quốc lộ 18A cuối cùng là vùng hải đảo

Do sinh sống trên biển, luôn đối mặt với hiểm hoạ từ thiên nhiên nên ngư dân các làng chài rất coi trọng chuyện kiêng kỵ, thờ cúng. Vào những ngày rằm, mồng một hay dịp Tết v.v.. hầu hết các gia đình đều sắm lễ tới các đền thờ trên Vịnh như đền Bà Men (hồ Ba Hầm), đền Cậu Vàng (Cửa Vạn) hoặc vào các đền, chùa trong đất liền như chùa Long Tiên, đền Cái Lân, đền Trần Quốc Nghiễn (TP Hạ Long), đền Cửa Ông (TX Cẩm Phả)... để cầu tài, cầu lộc, mong cho một năm mới đi biển gặp nhiều may mắn, mọi người trong gia đình mạnh khoẻ, an lành

Đảo Cô Tô Nhờ phong cảnh thiên nhiên thơ mộng, trữ tình, môi trường trong lành, những bãi biển trải dài cát mịn, những cánh rừng nguyên sinh ngút ngàn, những bãi đá tự nhiên kỳ vĩ, Cô Tô khiến mọi du khách phải say đắm, mê mẩn...

Đảo Tuần Châu có bãi biển trong xanh, bờ cát trắng kéo dài 6km, bao quanh là những rừng thông xanh mướt, khí hậu mát mẻ quanh năm đón gió biển thổi vào. Tại đây du khách sẽ thưởng thức các dịch vụ du lịch chất lượng hàng đầu, nhạc nước với ánh sáng Laser màu hoành tráng; show biểu diễn cá heo, hải cẩu, sư tử biển..

Bãi Cháy Dọc theo bờ vịnh Hạ Long là khu nghỉ mát thường quen gọi là Bãi Cháy. Ðây là khu nghỉ mát quanh năm lộng gió biển, nhiệt độ trung bình năm khoảng trên 20°C. Bãi Cháy là một dải đồi thấp chạy thoai thoải về phía biển kéo dài hơn 2 km ôm lấy hàng thông cổ thụ nằm xen kẽ với những khách sạn cao tầng, những biệt thự nhỏ kiến trúc riêng biệt. Qua con đường rải nhựa, sát bờ vịnh là dải cát trắng và hàng phi lao xanh mát. Những hàng quán nhỏ xinh ẩn mình dưới những rặng phi lao. Tắm biển xong du khách có thể lên bờ ngồi thưởng thức những cốc nước mát lạnh để đón luồng gió biển
