The Bear and Two Friends Illustrated by Tshering Dorji
Once upon a time,
in a small village,
there lived two friends named Dawa and Nima. They were best friends.
One day they decided to go to the forest.
When they reached the thickest of the forest,
a big and dangerous bear appeared ahead of them.
Nima ran to the nearest tree and quickly climbed up the tree. Dawa did not know how to climb, so he asked Nima to help him.
However, Nima did not help him. So Dawa laid on the ground, pretending to be dead.
The bear walked up to Dawa and sniffed him.
Then, the bear walked away towards the mountain.
After the bear disappeared, Nima came down from the tree and asked Dawa what the bear had whispered in his ear.
Dawa looked at Nima in disappointment and replied, “Do not trust friends who do not care for you.”
Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.
