Skits are great tools that allow children to think about the importance of acquiring good values while having fun. They include values like respect, compassion, fraternity, friendship and tolerance .Grade 6 B Boys showcased an informative act based on World heart day. They gave message to the fellow students to be a Hero by making a promise o make a simple change for healthy heart.
World Heart Day World Heart Day is a reminder to each one of us about this life sustaining organ and Marking this day globally aims to increase public awareness and promote preventive measures to reduce the global incidence of cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke). Dunes International School marked this day with numerous activities; of which CPR session collaborated by Ahalia hospital impinged the students about the measure- ments one should take in case of any heart related emergencies. Replica of huge heart displayed in the reception area attracted everyone’s attention, where the students sta- pled their messages of the day. The students, staff and parents pledged to live a precau- tious life and avoid any admonitory actions that could prove a threat to our heart.
Glory, resplendence, an aura of learning mingled as Dunes International School Celebrat- ed the WORLD TOURISM DAY with utter zeal and ardour on the 26th September, 2019. The school draped completely with World’s Top Tourism spots depicting a whole sum of an elysian epitome providing the students with an aesthetic taste of what this day is all about. Each and every classroom in the Primary section had a story to tell to the visitors as it depicted the cultural and traditional aspects, the famous cuisines, architecture and numerous panoramas of different countries. The best part of the celebration was young students explaining the portrayal of the pavilions to the Secondary Students. It was a great learning experience to the middle school and higher secondary students.
Leadership Program—Tajneed-The Capsule Learning Moves. Specific Objectives: Focus on the empowerment and wellness of drivers, conductors and bus associates. Discussion on various problems faced by the bus monitors and the ways to handle them. The Tajneed volunteer students started the day with the prayer and a quote which spread positive vibes amongst all. Then a skit was performed which described the way bus monitors take individual care of each one in the bus to ensure the safety of the students. It was followed ny games in which the bus monitors took part actively. The atmosphere changed into laughter and learning the skills of cooperation. The learning outcomes were focused on the leadership values, the importance of team work and tolerance.
Topic: Subsidiary book Learning outcome: Students prepared purchase register by analysing the list of purchases made for the month. They could identify the items which are not recorded in the pur- chase journal.
Jane Godall’s Roots and Shoots announced their new twinning programme be- tween schools in the UAE and U.K. As a part of the twinning program, Ms.Tara Gol- shan , Executive Educational Director of Roots and Shoots, UK visited Dunes Inter- national School. She empowered our students to use their voice and actions to make compassionate decisions, influencing and leading change in their communi- ties and challenge of making the world a better place. Strategy used – Think Pair and Share Learning objective: To reason out the trends in periodic properties of elements. Activity description- Students were asked to discuss the posed questions in pairs and reason out the periodicity in properties of elements Learning Outcome- Students of grade 10 brainstormed on the posed questions and in groups they discussed and explained the periodicity in properties of elements in the modern periodic table.
Nutrition plays a significant role in wide-spread diseases including those caused by deficiency of nutri- ents. Schools are important places for protecting and promoting health because they reach the majority of children, and through them their families and society as a whole. Furthermore, education is a key so- cial determinant of health. It makes a significant contribution to people's understanding of health risks and how to avoid them. Focused on this, Dunes International School organized a session on ‘nutrition for kids’ in coordination with LLH hospital, Mussafah. It was an informative session for the students and staff, beautifully felicitated by Ms. Mary Joy, Dietitian of LLH hospital.
\"In continuation of student awareness program, Dr Richard Reid, Dean of Academ- ics, South Dakota State University, USA visited Dunes International School on 01 October 2019 along with his team. He gave a comprehensive presentation on all aspects of a students life in USA. The topic covered beyond just academics and in- cluded the admission procedure, scholarships, living choices & the courses availa- ble. The presentation concluded with a questionnaire session with the Secondary students and their parents.\"
Student Ambassador Workshop was organized on the 150 th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, 2nd October 2019. 100 students from grade 5 to 12 assembled the Solar Study Lamps guided by the teachers those who have taken special train- ing in this program. Through this program scientific curiosity of young minds were piqued towards clean technologies for the future, by making them Student Solar Ambassadors. This event developed environmental awareness and ethical values among the students.
The main purpose of the tournament is scoring maximum number of goals by moving forward with the ball into the opposite teams. Students from grade 6 to 12 participated in the inter-house football tournament which was conducted on 30th September. The winners trophy was bagged by Hillock house and Knoll House were runners up.
By doing this activity Students of Grade 9 learnt about cyclic Quadrilaterals and discovered the rela- tion between the angles. They have enjoyed verifying the proper- ties of Cyclic Quadrilaterals.
Students of grade 10 A found the surface area and volume of combi- nation of solids. They combined different solids like cone, cylinder, cuboids and explained the method of finding the surface area and volume, using different formulas which enhanced their logical and computational skills.
Building our own robot has been a topic in our school for a long time now. The kids are absolutely fasci- nated with robotics. Students involved in assembling and programming of XY plotter and MBOT Rang- er in Robotics lab, which helped the students to get hands-on lessons that support them to achieve both curriculum goals and boost 21st century skills like creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving in a collaborative environment.
Gandhi Sahitya Vedi, Abu Dhabi took the initiative to celebrate the 150th birth anniver- sary of Father of our Nation by organizing a special program at ISC, Abu Dhabi. On this occasion, Indian Embassy and ISC joined and honoured the most talented students from each school. As the token of appreciation, the selected students were given one of Gandhiji’s classic books depicting the signature of the H.E. the Ambassador of India. Dunes International School also was delighted to be the part of special event by the par- ticipation of ten students. This was indeed a valuable and memorable gift for the stu- dents.
Counsellor’s Desk Consistency, is the parent’s most im- portant disciplinary tool, suitably sharpened by clear identification of the parent’s non-negotiable rules. The more the parent’s authority is based on wis- dom, not power, the less children will challenge it. Inconsistency is confusing for children.
