DUNES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Volume 8 Issue 2 ACADEMIC SESSION 2019-2020 09– 13 February 2020  Students Picnic will be on 15.02.2020  Prepare well for the upcoming exam.  Kindly refer to the circular for the portion and schedule of final examination uploaded in the portal. Dunes International school considers parental involvement as the key to a holistic development of the school. Our enthusiastic parents are always part of the school activities and out students’ learning process. 12th February 2020, wow...wasn’t less than an incredible day as our enthusiastic parents enjoyed a lovely trip to a farm house wherein they enjoyed a wholesome activities to strengthen their relationship with school community. The school extends a wholehearted gratitude to its avid parent community for being part this eventful one day trip.

A tri language Challenge ‘A different Language is a different vision of life’ A tri language Challenge held on 10th February 2020 by Abu Dhabi Indian School Muroor. The initiative aims of the competition is to enhance the communicative competencies in Hindi, Arabic and English along with creativity and innovation in presentation. The theme of the Competition is based on the UAE Vision 2021, National Agenda and the topic of the day was ‘Education in the UAE leading the students to Sustainable Goal’. The goal of the initiative is to bring together literary talents from across schools to a common platform to show case innovation and creativity integrating languages and technology. Towards the objectives from Gr 6 to 8 four students represented the school and showcased their communicative skills in tri language challenge and gained the knowledge on how to build a competent student community empowered with strong communication skills.

Stress has a powerful impact on various aspects of life—not only can it affect your mood, energy level, relationships, and work performance, stress can also cause and exacerbate a wide variety of health conditions. The leadership team of Dunes International team “Tajneed” took upon themselves to distress our support team of bus drivers and monitors.

Grade 6 G 1 students conducted an assembly on “Compassion”. The assembly is started with school songs and warm up exercises. They were able to communicate that the importance of Compassion and through the skit students were to demonstrate the value of the compassion. Compassion: Compassion literally means “to suffer together.” Among emotion researchers, it is defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another's suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering.  To be compassionate is to feel deeply for another person as they experience the ups and downs associated with life. To be compassionate is to not just tell someone that you care, but also to show them that you care by being there before they even ask for it. “If you want to be happy, practice compassion”. Students acted well in the skit and conveyed the message in a beautiful manner.

KENKEN : Ken Ken international championship is a puzzle based competition which helps students to improve their math skills, logical reasoning and strategic thinking. The idea of the championship is to expose students to the benefit of developing competitive puzzling into a productive activity. Our students enrolled In Ken Ken international championship 2019 and scored good result in emirates and national levels. Congratulations to all the winners. Grade 8 student , Hisham won first prize in Dance competition which was held in ISC and first prize in story writing competition in RSC Sahityotsav.





Mind Mapping- cold desert Ladakh Mind mapping is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It helps to better analyze , comprehend, recall and generate new ideas. Grade 7 students did mind mapping on cold desert - Ladakh. Through this activity students learned about the location, climate, natural vegetation, wild life and life of the people. It helps them to recall and comprehend their information about Ladakh cold desert.

Students of grade 6 Analyzed the structure of a flame and came to know that there are three different colors in a flame and realized temperature variations. When you light a candle a combustion reaction takes place with the wax of the candle which is the fuel and the air which contains oxygen. The flames are the place where this combustion reaction is taking place. All students were enthusiastically participated and found their findings.

A circuit is a closed path or loop around which an electric current flows. A circuit is usually made by linking electrical components together with pieces of wire cable. Thus, in a flashlight, there is a simple circuit with a switch, a lamp, and a battery linked together by a few short pieces of copper wire. Students of grade 6 made a simple circuit by using a cell, a torch bulb and a connecting wire .

Speaking activity grade 6 The students were enthusiastic to describe their city in French using the new vocabularies .The students were engaged throughout the class as they were listening to description given by others and tried to comprehend the same. They communicated in French and described the places and the shops near by.

La meteo. Students follow weather forecasts to gauge their accuracy and produce a weather report for the class. They develop skills of observation, recording and reporting. The goal is to present their own weather report for the class. In the process, students become more familiar with weather terminology , learnt how weather forecasting technology works, and develop presentation skills in French.

Two Cabinet committees have been formed to chart out the future devel- opment plan of the UAE. While one committee will build a comprehensive 50-year development plan, the other will oversee the grand celebrations for the country's 50th anniversary in 2021.This came as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, announced 2020 to be the year of preparations for the next 50 years. Called '2020: Towards the next 50', next year will witness the biggest national strategy to prepare for the coming 50 years on the federal and local level as the country approaches its golden jubilee in 2021.The first committee, chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, is tasked with building a comprehensive development plan for the next 50 years. Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, will act as his deputy. The second committee will be chaired by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and his deputy will be Sheikha Mariam Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

EXAMINATION HALL TIPS: Dear Students, a quick look at the following examination hall tips:  Take time to slow your breathing and relax when you first sit down in the examination hall (as learnt in session)  Skim over the exam paper, underline key words and instructions.  Work out how long you have for each question and section.  Look out for the language of the questions- you need to understand what the question is really asking  Answer the questions you find easiest first to build your confidence, move on next to the more difficult ones.  Don’t worry about how long others are taking or how many supplementary sheets others have taken.  Keep a check on time to ensure you have enough time to answer the most difficult questions  Re-read answers if time permits Best of Luck Counsellor Final Examination will start from 4th March 2020….
