GRAND TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS AT DUNES !!! 5th of September marks an important day in the calendar of a teacher as well as a student because this day is the birth anniversary of Dr.S.Radhakrishnan and is observed as Teacher’s Day among the entire Indian diaspora in UAE as well as in India in order to honour and pay respect to our teachers and educators who dedicate their life to the noble mission of teach- ing-learning. DUNES students also paid respects to their educators on Teachers’ Day in a grand cele- bration conceptualized and put together by them for their ‘gurus’. The Teacher’s day program was an extremely interactive and interesting one which was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.The students paid their respects to the teachers who have been their friend, philosopher and guide. Also, senior students donned the role of student -teacher for a day and taught middle school students to give a day off to their mentors and to get a better perspective into their teacher’s lives. ACTIVITIES GALORE @ DUNES PREMISES DESIGN THINKING - A NEW AGE CONCEPT Design thinking refers to the cognitive, strategic and practical processes by which design concepts are developed by designers. Students of Grade 10 ap- plied their knowledge of air resistance and aerospace engineering as they im- agined, planned, created, tested and set their own parachutes afloat!!!

ACTIVITIES GALORE @ DUNES PREMISES DIALOGUE WRITING a la FRENCH ,MONSIEUR!!! Dialogue is a conversation between two or more people in a narrative work. As a liter- ary technique, dialogue serves several purposes. It can advance the plot, reveal a char- acter's thoughts or feelings, or show how characters react in the moment. This activity enhances the vocabulary skill of the learner along with their creativity. In this activity ,Grade 9 students imagined a dialogue between a customer and a shop- keeper, where the customer buys milk product (Chocolate) from the Confectionery in French. The students enjoyed learning new dialogues imagining themselvesnto be the customer thereby learning various new words for the products sold.

THE INTERVIEW-LET’S FACE IT!!!! The Interview’ by Christopher Silveste is an excellent depic- tion of the ordeals one faces while giving an interview. It al- so touches upon the metaphysical and theological aspects of an interview. Grade 12 students practically demonstrated the theme of the ‘The Interview’ lesson by conducting peer interviews and hence helped them not only boost their communication skills but also internalize intensive under- standing of the text.

IN DEPTH INVESTIGATIONS UNDERWAY!!!! It is always amazing to learn how chemical reactions make our day. An investi- gatory project is basically any science experiment where you start with an is- sue and conduct research or an investigation to decide what you the outcome will be. Grade 12 students investigated the rate of fermentation of following materials: rice flour, wheat flour, gram flour, potato juice, carrot juice, etc. And concluded rice flour takes maximum time for fermentation and wheat flour takes minimum time for fermentation. CHEMISTRY

ACTIVITY ENCLAVE @ DUNES INTERNATIONAL ROLE PLAY-CITIZEN’S FORUM THE PROBLEM OF TRAFFIC JAMS IN YOUR CITY/TOWN The students of grade 9 undertook role play on the problem of traffic jams in their cities and towns. The teacher asked the class to form groups and each group got a set of cue cards. Based on their cue cards ,they were allotted their respective roles. The students came up with new ideas to solve the problem of traffic in their cities and towns. The activity enabled in sensitizing students to local issues and in generating ideas and using language functions appropriate to stating of problems, giving sugges- tions, concluding and summarizing.
