GENERAL INFORMATIONThe sale will commence at 12.30pm.All sheep sold will be registered with Berrichon Sheep Society Ltd.Registration certificates will be handed from the office on payment onanimals. Best of the Berrichon sale is an invitation production sale of inlamb ewes from some of the top UK flocks. All sheep will be sold inguineas (105p). After the Berrichon AGM on 31st October 2015 anyunregistered sheep will be sold at the end of the sale.HEALTHThe sheep are all from Maedi Visna Accredited flocks registered withthe SAC Sheep & Goat Health Scheme.INSPECTIONAll sheep are open to inspection on the evening of 13th November andthe morning of the 14th November. Alternatively by privateappointment, please contact vendors.SCANNING RESULTSAll sheep that are scanned will have results printed in the catalogueand announced on the day; this is no guarantee of the numbers oflambs to be born, but purely an indication.If the ewe proves not to be in lamb at the time of the sale and within 7days after the sale the purchaser must give written notice to theauctioneer of his intention to return the animal supported by aveterinary’s certificate which proves the ewe is not in lamb. The ewecan then be returned to the vendor for a full refund.RESTRICTIONSBy prior arrangement. Sale Forward10 years ago our dear friend Nick Baron had a vision to run a qualityberrichon in lamb ewe sale, to incorporate flocks from all ends of thecountry. The remit was registered sheep from quality stock to help newbuyers buy into good genetics and progress the breed.We started with an invitation select seven group of breeders, whichsoon became the ‘Best of the Berrichon’. We’ve seen the dispersal ofthe Horchester and Cattistock flock and this year see the dispersal ofthe adult portion of the renowned Strathallan flock, flock number 41 ina berrichon book which now has had approximate 350 flocks.Over the years we have sold over 360 ewes to average more than £350per head, these ewes have started numerous flocks, including someexported to Germany and made a huge contribution in expanding thebreed.As with Nick’s original remit, you can be sure the quality of these sheepon sale will not be compromised, but sheep will be available for allbudgets.All the sheep will be available to view the evening of 13th Novemberand purchasers and friends and invited to join the vendors for a meal atThe Three Pears Inn at Wardon near the market.

Incledon ForewardAs the Best of the Berrichon sale celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, theIncledon Flock also celebrate 10 years since our founding. The first femalesin our flock were purchased at the very first Best of the Berrichon Sale. Thefour females we purchased at that sale served us well and we continuedto buy quality females each year. Once we added Berrichons to our farmin North Devon, we never looked back and enjoyed entering these sheepinto shows. The addition over the years has led to an established flock witharound 100 breeding ewes.The showing season has been successful for us this year winning BreedChampion at the Devon County Show and being awarded 1st prize forboth our shearling ewe and aged ewe at the Three Counties Show. To topoff a positive year the Incledon Flock also was awarded ReserveInterbreed Ram at the North Devon Show in August.Our sheep for sale are in lamb to Rakefoot Nugget WJC13 007 andWoodston Oman CMH14 753. Both rams have been awarded the ReserveInterbreed Ram at the North Devon Show, Nugget won in 2014 and Omanin 2015. Woodston ForewardWoodston flock came of age in 2016, 18 years going we now have a flockof 120 ewes which have enabled us to pick 10 quality gimmers for the 10thanniversary dale.As it’s the 10th anniversary we have chosen some with unique genetic. Anoriginal purchase from one of the early sale, Weydale Miss Dynamite, sucha quality ewe we successfully took embryos to the prolific female breeder,the Eire imported Deerpark Paddy. A daughter from our last remainingembryo Lot 17 is offered at the sale.We have also invested in German genetics, which to us offer only provengenetics with its strict standards only allowing the very best sheep to beregistered. Swincombe FlockThe last few years we have been trying to improve the quality of ourBerrichons. Henallt Jack and Criffel Jackpot were both purchased for thispurpose and we have been pleased with the outcome.
