Welcome Back To School- A very warm welcome back to Dunes International School. We are very proud to serve and to be leading an ambitious school with huge potential. The silence in the campus was shattered with the chirping of happy students as the school gates opened after the holidays. The students were back in school after a long summer break. They were thrilled, excited and raring to go! The assembly was teeming with a wave of enthusiasm. The students had come back fresh, reenergized, well rested and full of excited stories of their vacations. These are exciting times for the school and for the Dunes Learning Trust and we are delighted to be taking the school into the next chapter in its history .

Reopening Day Assembly T eachers of grade 1 to 5 prepared a spe- cial Assembly for welcoming the stu- dents to develop a sense of unity and hope among the students and teachers. It gave an insight into school happenings as well as other events and com- municates important information and announce- ments to the children and teachers. This enabled children from different year groups to gather to- gether and learn from each other about a variety and values of different topics and themes.

- “ Teachers plant seeds of knowledge that grow forever” A teacher plays great role in the student’s lives. Teachers are the real shapers of future of the students which can never be ignored. Teachers make their own lesson plan to make education more effective and inter- esting as well as facilitate students learning. Students of Dunes International school organized a special assembly for teachers to show their respect ,gratitude and love for all their hard work and efforts they have put in, for educating them .The students took great effort and ensured that teachers enjoy every minute. The efforts of students were ap- preciated by teachers thus making the event a grand success. A teach- er affects eternity; he/she can never tell where his influence stops.

ICEBREAKER ACTIVITY An icebreaker is a facilitation exercise intended to help members of a group begin the process of forming themselves into a team. Icebreakers are com- monly presented as a game to \"warm up\" the group by helping the mem- bers to get to know each other. It’s a great way to boost morale. After a relaxing vacation grade 5 students were given icebreaker activities which helped them to strengthen their bond, stimulate better brainstorm- ing and create an atmosphere of inclusivity.

Learning Knitting is really a life skill. It not only engages our body but also enforces mind fullness medita- tion .Knitting is calming, relaxing, and keeps us centered because of its repetitive rhythmic movements, which can help prevent and manage stress, pain and depression, which in turn strengthens the body’s immune system. In early 2018, a group of ladies came together to channel their knitting hobby into something more focused and useful. They started a knit-a-thon exercise, aim of which is to knit a specific number of blankets and distribute them to charities worldwide that look after young children. In parallel, the group has decided to compete for the Guinness World Record for the World's largest hand-knitted blanket. Apart from that, this Knit-a-thon will also seek to set two new Guinness World records viz. (i) blanket with the maximum number of knitted hearts and (ii) the world's heaviest blanket. The students, parents and teachers of Dunes International School also took initiative and became a part of this great world record event.

Stories play a vital role in the growth and develop- ment of children. The books they read and the char- acters they get to know can become like friends. Grade 5 students while learning about the great king Akbar and his ministers were given a chance to create a story or dialogue in their own words using Hindi language. Children love to listen to stories; especially ones that tickle their funny bone! Most of us grew up listening to the famous stories of the great king Akbar and one of his wittiest courtesans, Birbal . These sto- ries not only amused us, but they also taught us about the important virtues of life because these sto- ries imparted us with a valuable moral at the end. All students were ecstatic to do this activity.

Holiday memory collage For both educators and pupils, getting back from the holidays into the classroom to work can be a challenging thing. The children have probably accumulated a lot of great memories about their holidays. Maybe some of them went on trips or visited their grandparents. These are stories that can be shared with the class in a holiday memory collage. Students brought photos from the holidays that went into the collage to provide a visual representation of the simple narratives in French like “ j’ai visite au parc or je vais a la mer etc.”. Experience shows that this activity is really fun for the students because they are asked to share positive memories and tell the class about what they did during the holidays.

Recipe Writing: Writing that explains or tells us how to do something is called procedural writing. It is very important in our day-to-day lives. As we all know, there is nothing more frustrating than directions that are unclear or badly written. This activity helped children understand what procedural writing is and how to read it. It also let them write their own instructions for their favourite Arabic Cuisine and followed them to see how well they worked.

Let’s learn coordination from our body Our body works in an amazing way. The organs of an organ system work together to perform a particular function of our body. It is the nervous system that controls the different organs in our body. Students were taken to the bio lab to inspect the model of eye that really facilitated their learning of the topic –The structure of the eye. They were able to analyze the parts and also explain its working .

Keeping a beat is very important, which is what the students are learning. Pace and pa- tience go hand in hand and helps in mind and body, keeping control of motor skills. Students learn the lyrics and melody of the school song and practice to sing properly in tune

Multiplication of fractions Mathematics is the cradle of all creations, without which the world cannot move an inch. Learning mathematics can be made enjoyable and easier through activities and games. To understand the concept of multiplication of frac- tions, in an easier way, it should be learned in a pic- torial manner. Students framed their own fractions and found the product using grids. It was easy for them to under- stand the concept rather than finding it by calcula- tion.
