Communication CAMP NEWSLETTER We promise you will hear from us a lot! Camp Kadima is very interested in keeping you up-to- date on your child’s unit and group activities, as well as individual participation in camp. You will receive camp newsletters throughout the summer. These newsletters will inform you of the highlights from the past week, as well as important information including field trip destinations and menu for the upcoming week. CAMP OFFICE Our camp office is available from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm. If you wish to contact your child’s camp director, unit leader, counselor or the camp administrator, please call 954 434-0499, ext. 200. Since all staff is involved with camp groups during the day, please be patient and not ex- pect a return call until after 4:00 pm. Should your child express any concerns or fears about camp or should there be any unique or unusual situations at home that may affect your child, please contact your child’s unit leader or the camp administrator immediately. If we are aware of the issue, we can address it quickly. EMAIL/ONLINE COMMUNICATION Please make sure we have your email address. All camps will be sending emails to parents throughout the summer. Emails will include newsletters, letters, daily updates, “today at camp” photos and evaluation surveys. Hard copies of the news-letter will also be available in the camp lobby. Email addresses are used by the JCC only to share information about camp and JCC activities for your child. All pertinentcamp communication will be updated as needed online at www.dpjcc.org. ABSENTEEISM For your child’s safety and protection, please notify the camp office at 954 434-0499, ext. 200 or email llundy@dpjcc.org if your camper will be absent from camp due to illness (COVID-19 or other illness), vacation or any other reason. BIRTHDAYS If your child’s birthday falls during camp, you may arrange with your camp director to provide a kosher store-bought snack for all campers in your child’s group. Baked goods from home are NOT allowed. SURVEY At the end of camp each family will receive an email with our 2021 Camp Kadima survey. We continue to strive each year to make every summer camp experience wonderful, and filled with fond memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. In our efforts to continue to make each summer even better than the last, your feedback is critical to Camp Kadima administration and our camp committee to evaluate Camp Kadima 2021 and use these comments to improve next year's summer camp program. 5
What to Bring (and not to bring) to camp! Campers spend the day involved in a diverse range of activities including sports, art, swimming and more. Campers should come to camp each day with a big smile, dressed in their Camp Kadima camp T-shirt, comfortable shorts, sneakers and camp bag. No flip flops or sneakers with wheels will be allowed. Please make sure all items are clearly labeled. Camp Bag Basics: bathing suit, towel, sunscreen (with label and instructions for the counselor), water bottle, plastic bag for wet items, aqua shoes/flip flops for the pool area, hat (optional) and change of clothing. What to leave at home: Cell phones, game boys, Nintendo Switch or other electronic games, headphones, trading cards, expensive clothing, jewelry and money unless it’s a field trip day. CAMP KADIMA/DPJCC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOSS, DAMAGE OR THEFT OF PERSONAL ITEMS, WHETHER ON CAMPUS OR ON OFF-CAMPUS FIELD TRIPS. LOST AND FOUND Label everything! During the course of the summer, clothing and personal items get misplaced. Lost items will be brought to the “lost and found” located in the camp office. In an effort to minimize the number of lost items, please label everything with your camper’s name. Any articles not claimed at the end of each camp session will be donated to a local charity. CAMP T-SHIRTS Camp T-shirts will be distributed at Meet the Counselors Night on June 6. Each camper will receive four shirts. For safety and security all campers and staff must come to camp each day dressed in their Camp Kadima T-shirt. Campers are NOT required to wear their camp T- shirt onour new weekly “Dress Up Spirit Days” unless they are going on a field trip. Please refer to the camp calendar for the list of Dress Up Spirit Days. If a camper arrives without his or her shirt, you will be provided with one of the following three options. 1. A shirt may be dropped off within 30 minutes of receiving a phone call from staff. 2. An additional T-shirt may be purchased that day for a cost of $5. 3. The child must be picked up to go home. 6
Health and Safety Camp Kadima Illness Policy If unsure of whether or not to send in your child who is feeling or looking ill: “When in doubt, please stay out.” Visibly ill children will not be accepted. Parents will be contacted during the day if your child becomes unwell, develops a fever, vomits, etc. Children who become ill during the night or display symptoms of an illness in the morning should not come to camp. If a parent gives a child fever- reducing/eliminating medication and brings the child to camp, the family will be asked to leave camp for the summer. Children should remain at home if: running a fever of 99.6 or higher (requires 24 hours fever-free to return) showing signs of a stomach virus with vomiting and/or diarrhea child has strep throat child has other bacterial/contagious illness (return may require physician’s note) child has head lice (can return after being treated and checked for absence of lice/nits by school personnel) child exhibits a “green” runny nose which has not been diagnosed and/or breathing difficulties which are undiagnosed child looks or acts “differently,” i.e., was awake all night and crying, unusually tired, pale, lack of appetite, irritable, listless or restless Due to the current need for enhanced safety, the DPJCC retains the absolute right to determine when to accept an ill child back to camp. Children Who Become Ill While in camp. Section 7-6.02 Child Care Ordinance, states that “the condition shall be reported to the parent and the child shall be removed from the facility as soon as possible … any child who is suspected of having a communicable or infectious disease as defined in the Florida Administrative Code or who develops a fever or other signs and symptoms that include, but are not limited to, any of the following”: diarrhea (more than one abnormally loose stool within a 24-hour period) conjunctivitis (pink eye) child may return 24 hours after beginning antibiotics AND no eye drainage is present skin rash/infection exposed, open skin lesions severe coughing that causes a child to become red or blue in the face or to make a whooping cough sound; dry, persistent cough difficult or rapid breathing stiff neck temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher (which is considered a fever) when taken by the axillary method (under the arm) unusually dark urine and/or gray or white stool and yellowish skin or eyes head lice 7
Allergy Policies Camp Kadima Because the David Posnack JCC seeks to provide a safe environment for all children in our care, the following Allergy Awareness Policy and Action Plan is in place to address and respond to the wide- ranging allergies and allergic reactions common among children. This policy recognizes that there are many different events where food is served at JCC. We recognize, with the number of groups and types of events, that there needs to be flexibility. It is important to note that we cannot guarantee a completely allergy-free environment and cannot be held liable for allergic reactions that occur in spite of the policies and procedures outlined below. However, we are deeply committed to working with the families to support children with allergies whenever possible. Parent Responsibilities: Disclose all known allergies. Provide (in writing) and discuss with camp personnel a thorough allergy action plan approved/created by a physician prior to the child attending camp. Sign medical/emergency forms giving permission for the camp to contact life-saving authorities if necessary. Provide any needed anti-allergy devices/medications and instruct personnel on their usage/dosage. Sign authorizations for devices/medications to be administered. Sign a hold-harmless/liability release. Provide food and other items for allergic children as needed for the child to participate meaningfully in camp programs. Camp Responsibilities: Provide paperwork/format for parents to disclose allergies in registration materials. Initiate and carry out allergy management plan meetings, both general and specific, to include all staff that will interact with the child. Have a plan to inform substitute counselors/assistants of allergic children. Folder indicating all allergic children, protocols, etc., must be reviewed prior to substitute being with children. Train in the proper handwashing technique and cleaning of surfaces to avoid spreading allergens. Provide cleaning products that are safe for children and that kill/remove allergens. Train staff about allergies and what allergic reactions and symptoms look like. Unless being served at the time, staff are taught to avoid keeping food in the camp group area. Training to keep children from sharing food items. Provide list of all snacks served to allergic children and require parents to send back approved list of items or the camp will not serve the child any snacks. Safekeeping of anti-allergy devices/medications and ensuring that all staff are made aware as to their locations and usage. 911 training for anaphylaxis. 8
CLINIC INFORMATION/ILLNESS Camp Kadima employs a full-time medic. Additionally, our staff receives an overview of first aid treatments during training. Our camp infirmary can treat minor injuries. In cases relating to illness or injuries where we feel a child is not able to remain at camp, we will ask you to pick up your child. In case of suspected illness, please keep your camper home for his/her protection, as well as for the health of other campers and staff. Upon arrival at camp or during the camp day, if a camper dis- plays any symptoms such as a cough, fever, lice, skin rash or open wound, the parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up the camper. Please keep your child home if he/she has a fever, general body rash, diarrhea, vomiting, symptoms of conjunctivitis, impetigo, head lice or other communicable diseases or conditions. Please follow the 24-hour fever-free policy before sending your child back to camp. Please keep your child home until he/she is symptom-free and no longer contagious. A written statement from a physician may be required before returning to camp. In the event of allergy related symptoms or reactions, your child must be picked up as quickly as possible. It is the parent/guardian is responsibility to keep work and emergency numbers up-to-date and plan arrangements for the child to be picked up promptly when necessary. If any child contracts any kind of communicable disease (e.g., chicken pox, head lice, conjunctivitis, pinworms, etc.), the camp must be notified as soon as a diagnosis is made, so that we may notify other parents accordingly. If a child has any symptoms of illness upon returning to camp in the morning, the parent will be called by the medic to make arrangements for the child to be returned home. MEDICATION All medication must be kept at the Camp Infirmary and dispensed by the camp medic. Prescription medication to be dispensed by the JCC, must be in the original medication container with the original label containing the name of the doctor, child and medication directions. An “authorization for medication form” must be filled out with the medic and on file. No prescription medication will be dispensed if it is not in the original prescription container. Medication must be given to the medic personally by the camper’s parent/guardian. Authorization for medication forms are available in the camp office. Any non-prescription medications must be labeled with the child’s name, and an “authorization for medication form” must be filled out with the medic and on file. Non-prescription medications also must be given to the medic personally by the camper’s parent/guardian. In addition, you may authorize the dispensation of Tylenol on the authorization for medication form for the entire summer. DO NOT PUT ANY MEDICATION IN YOUR CHILD’S CAMP BAG. ACCIDENT/INJURY In the event an accident or injury occurs, first aid will be administered on site, and you will receive a copy of an accident/injury notice at the end of the day. Should the accident or injury require more than basic first aid, 911 will be called and the camper will be taken to the hospital. In this event, you will be contacted immediately. Camp administrators, as well as staff in the aquatics and sports and wellness programs, have first aid and CPR training. 9
Health and Safety (Continued) MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS Please be sure your child’s medical forms have been turned in to the camp office. No camp- ers will be permitted to participate in camp without completed medical forms. The correct forms are Florida Department of Health Student Examination Form and the Florida Certificate of Immunization 680 Part A—See Page 2. These forms are available at your doctor’s office. Please remember to give us up-to-date phone numbers so you may be reached in an emergency, although we hope to never need them. HEAD LICE Head lice are a fact of life in Florida. They are not dangerous, but they require attention, because they spread rapidly and are difficult to control. When head lice are detected at home, it is important that parents inform the camp. For best results, all family members should be treated with a medicated shampoo for lice, and the nits should be removed with a special nit comb. It is also important to clean the child’s environment (clothing, carpeting, linens, stuffed animals, upholstery, car interiors, etc.) When a case of head lice is detected at camp, the following guidelines are followed: The child is removed from the camp room, and the parent is called to pick him or her up. Head checks are done on the other children in the camp group. The JCC adheres to a “nit-free” policy. Upon returning to camp, an administrator must check your child to ensure that all lice and nits have been removed. 10
Covid-19 Policies Screening & Prevention, Reporting, Testing, Closure & Refunds Effective February 15, 2021-subject to update/amending Screening & Prevention. ● Any child with visible illness symptoms, regardless of temperature, will not be admitted to camp that day. ● If you give your child medicine (fever or symptom reducing), and send your child to camp that day, you will be asked to remove your child from the program. ● Clean masks are required daily for all children. ● Masks should be worn FROM getting out of the vehicle—not left in backpacks to be put on and should cover the nose and mouth. Reporting, Exposures and Contact ● If your child has direct contact or exposure to someone who has Covid-19 or who is testing for Covid-19, you are required to report this exposure and to keep your child/ren out of camp while waiting for the test results and/or quarantining. ● Direct contact is considered 15 or more minutes of contact with persons who are Covid-19 positive. ● Testing should be a minimum of three, preferably five days from the most recent exposure to that person. ● If household members test positive for Covid-19, it is recommended that all household members test. ● If a child enrolled in camp tests positive for Covid-19, s/he may return after either a negative PCR test or the 11th day after the positive diagnosis as long as the child is asymptomatic. ● If a child enrolled in camp does not get tested in a household where there is a Covid-19 positive member or other direct exposure, s/he may return on the 15th day after the most recent household member first tested positive (as long as asymptomatic). ● There are no camp refunds for days of camp missed due to Covid-19 testing or illness. ● Testing results need to be disclosed to the camp as soon as they are received so that we can keep all group families apprised. ● Even if you believe your child had only indirect contact with a positive Covid-19 case, we still need you to inform us and keep the child/ren out per the above criteria. This is the way we reduce/eliminate contact-spread. ● Additionally, you must notify us if anyone in your larger ‘circle’, extended family, co-worker, (people you/your child came in contact with) is Covid-19 positive and inform us with the most recent time you/your child/ren had contact with that person/s. ● It is critical for us to be informed and to contact-trace; we have the responsibility for keeping our entire DPJCC camp family as safe as possible. ● Failure to notify us as requested above will result in children being asked to leave our program. ● Sending children to camp with known positive Covid-19 results will result in children being asked to leave our program. Siblings Camp and/or upper camp siblings of exposed children must also stay out of camp and may return to camp with the same conditions listed above. Siblings are recommended to be tested if a household 11
Camp Kadima Expulsion Prevention Policy It is the policy of the DPJCC to serve the community. As such, we will do everything that we can at our camp, as early childhood professionals, to create and sustain environments, which are child-centered and developmentally appropriate. Unfortunately, there may be circumstances which require us to ask that a child be removed temporarily or permanently from our program. Following is a list of what we will do as a preventative to keep this from happening: Staff will redirect children who are exhibiting negative or inappropriate behavior. Staff will assess the camp environment, planned activities and supervision. Staff will use positive behavior methods and language while supervising children. Staff will use specific praise. Staff will have a few, simple camp rules. Staff will be consistent in enforcing rules, so that children are not confused. Children will be verbally told if doing something wrong AND told what they MAY do instead. Children will be encouraged and given time to gain self-control. Parents/guardians will be notified verbally and in writing if a child is out of control or displaying negative or inappropriate behavior. Parents will be given written notification regarding behaviors which lead to the child being asked to leave the DPJCC. Before asking a child to be removed from the camp program, a meeting will be requested with the parents or guardians to create a plan to help the child remain in camp. (Exceptions—failure to disclose known Covid- 19 exposure or diagnosis; masking known/diagnosed illness and sending ill/contagious children to camp. These result in immediate termination.) Termination of Camp Agreement/Expulsion: If all remedial actions are unsuccessful, the child’s parent/guardian will be advised verbally and in writing. Expulsion actions are meant to be for a period of time giving parents/guardians the opportunity for the child to receive outside intervention and/or maturity. The parent/guardian will be notified in writing regarding the expected/required changes in order to re-enroll the child. Parental Actions for Termination of Camp Agreement/Expulsion: Failure to pay fees and/or habitual late payments Failure to comply with licensing requirements (i.e., immunization records) Verbal and/or physical abuse or threats to staff Giving a child medication to reduce/minimize fever Failure to notify the DPJCC or a child or other family/contact member having Covid-19 Child Actions for Expulsion: Failure of child to adjust to our camp program after a “reasonable amount of time.” Uncontrolled tantrums/outbursts; consistent inability to be kept safe Ongoing physical harm to other children and/or staff Children Will Not Be Asked to Leave the Program If Parents: Lodge a complaint with the DCF Department of Child Care Licensing Report suspected neglect or abuse at the camp Question camp policies member tests positive. The DOH recommends that every household member be tested if one household member is positive for Covid-19. 12
Testing The only acceptable Covid-19 test is the PCR or diagnostic test. We do not accept the rapid test, which is an antibody test. If you choose to use a rapid test, you must also do the PCR test as well. The timing of the testing must be a minimum of three days after the exposure; five days from exposure is recommended. The exception to the three-day minimum wait time is if the staff/child is showing any Covid-related symptoms; then they should test immediately. Test results must be provided to the DPJCC in writing on the testing facility form, showing child/staff name, date of test, and results. Camp Closure-Positive Cases in a Group ● Any camp group that has a positive case will temporarily close and will be deep cleaned. ● The minimum closure will be two days from the day the child or staff member was last in the program to allow for proper sanitizing. ● The date of that group reopening will be determined on a case by case basis. ● We work with the Broward Department of Health (DOH) to determine if (and which) children, households and staff require quarantining and/or testing. Each case is determined on an individual basis as the circumstances vary per case. This avoids a program-wide closure. ● The child/staff who tested positive must be symptom-free and have a negative PCR test result before returning to the program. (There are cases when someone tests positive for an extended time but are deemed non-contagious; this is a case by case basis.) AUTHORIZATION FOR PICK UP For the safety of your camper, friends or relatives may not pick up child(ren) unless your Unit Leader receives written permission from the parent/guardian of the camper. The note must be signed by the parent/guardian and include camper’s names, camp unit, date and name of person permitted to pick up your camper(s). The person picking up must present a driver’s li- cense (or other official photo ID) to establish identification. No camper(s) will be released from Camp Kadima unless proper identification is established. CUSTODY If divorced or legally separated, and one parent has been granted sole custody, controlled care or restricted visitation, the parent/guardian must sign an emergency authorization form. A copy of the legal court issued decree must be submitted to Perla Sananes, Camp Director. Without a copy of the decree, the JCC cannot be held responsible for releasing (or not releasing) a child to a parent. Forms are available in the camp office. 13
Behavior Policy BEHAVIOR POLICY FOR SERIOUS INCIDENTS The JCC camp staff strives to provide a safe, well-supervised and fun experience for all campers. While we understand that campers sometimes have behavioral issues, we do what we can to support a camper. At no time will these issues be permitted to endanger the health or safety of the camper, other campers or camp staff. The following be- haviors are never permitted at camp and will result in the following steps taken as outlined be- low. In particular, intentional kicking, biting, bullying or other similar behaviors are considered to be severe and are treated with even greater severity. Please assist us with explaining to your camper what behaviors are and are not appropriate at camp and what the consequences are of inappropriate behavior. First Occurrence – The first time an incident happens will result in a phone call home. The Unit Leader will explain to the parents/guardian what happened and that such behavior is not ac- ceptable. In the case where kicking, biting or other severe behavior occurs, the camper may automatically be given a one-day suspension from camp, with no refund for that day. Staff will explain the policy to the parent/guardian. The Unit Leader will also contact the parent/guardian of the recipient of the incident, so that they are aware of what has occurred and assured that the matter is being dealt with appropri- ately. Second Occurrence – The second time an incident occurs will result in a second phone call home from the Camp Director. At least a one-day suspension may be given, if not more, with no refund, and it will be explained to the parent/guardian that if the child remains at camp, the next occurrence will definitely result in the camper’s expulsion from camp without a re- fund. The Unit Leader will also contact the parent/guardian of the recipient of the incident, so that they are aware of what has occurred and assured that the matter is being dealt with appropri- ately. Third Occurrence – The third incident will definitely result in immediate expulsion from camp without a refund. The Camp Director and or Camp Administrator will make this final determina- tion. The Camp Director and or Camp Administrator will also contact the parent/guardian of the recipient of the incident, so that they are aware of what has occurred and assured that the BEHAVIOR POLICY FOR NOT-SO-SERIOUS INCIDENTS We all expect the best from our children, but sometimes there are incidents where they misbehave. If an incident does occur, the children involved will be privately asked to discuss what happened. The senior staff will speak to all involved and provide conflict resolution. All staff are trained to handle a variety of problems and will take the proper measures to ensure the safety and care of your child at all times. Campers not adhering to the above- mentioned behavior policy may be asked to sign a Behavior Contract and held accountable for this contract. 14
Program Information FIELD TRIPS AND SPECIAL EVENTS Field trips and special events enhance our day camp programs and experiences each week. Field trip information may be found on the camp calendar. Field trips and somespecial events replace other scheduled enrichment activities, which may include instructional orrecreational swim. Parents/guardians may, at their option, keep campers’ home if there is a particular special event or field trip in which they do not want their child to participate. Please note that scheduled events are subject to change. Field Trip Days First Grade – Wednesday Second/Third Grade – Wednesday Fourth/Fifth Grade – Wednesday Extreme Adventure – Monday and Wednesday JGirls – Monday- in house event and on Wednesday JTech – Tuesday JSports—Tuesday Giborim – Friday SPENDING MONEY POLICY Spending money for field trips is at the parent/guardian’s discretion. Campers will be responsible for any spending money that they bring to camp. SHABBAT All campers will participate in a Shabbat experience every Friday. We ask for your cooperation in maintaining the integrity of this special time of the week. Therefore, unless there is an emergency, we request that you do not pick up your child(ren) Friday afternoons between 2:00-3:15 pm. This is the time that we all come together as a camp family. The Shabbat celebration is an important tradition here at Camp Kadima — a time when we all feel connected. 15
AQUATICS Campers are scheduled for swimming every day (unless a field trip or special event has been scheduled in its place). Certified instructors teach instructional swim. Recreational swim is for fun and practicing skills. Water safety is emphasized through the buddy system. If your child may be resistant to the swim program, let the Camp Director know. For the swimming experience to be meaningful, it should also be consistent. Therefore, please notify us in writing if you do not wish for your child to swim on any given day. Campers should bring a bathing suit, towel and plastic bag for wet items, aqua shoes/flip flops every day in their camp bag. EVERYTHING should be CLEARLY MARKED with the child’s FULL NAME. LUNCH On campus as well as off campus, lunches are Glatt kosher and are provided by Sterling Kosher Catering, our on-campus caterer. In addition to our primary entrée on campus each day, we also offer a salad bar, sunflower butter and jelly sandwiches and fruit. All food allergies will be accommodated individually, please notify your campers; Camp Director with your concerns. In keeping with the JCC’S Kashrut (Jewish dietary laws) policy NO FOOD OR SNACKS may be sent from home or brought on campus. Gluten free, Glatt kosher lunches are available for an additional fee of $15 per camper per week. Early/After-Care and Arrival/Dismissal SAFETY FOR ALL OUR CAMPERS AND STAFF IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY CAR POOL DROP OFF/PICK UP Morning Drop Off 8:45-9:00 am Afternoon Pick Up 3:45-4:00 pm Parents needing to come into the buildings for any reason, must park their cars in a marked park- ing space and NOT BLOCK DRIVING LANES OR CAR POOL LOOP. Children arriving after 9:00 am MUST be accompanied by a parent to the location of their camp program. Please see the car pool map for additional information. Morning Drop Off and Car Pool Early care begins at 7:30 am. Your child must be pre-registered for this service. Regular drop off begins promptly at 8:45 am Due to staffing ratios, children may not be dropped off earlier than the start of camp. If your child is dropped off before 8:45 am, you will be charged for the time he/she is here at a rate of $5 per child for each five minutes, 2
SAFETY FOR ALL OUR CAMPERS AND STAFF IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY Please follow your map to the camp buildings. Car pool drop off in the morning ends promptlyat 9:00 am. If your car pool includes a preschooler, all campers should be dropped off at the preschool. A member of our camp staff will escort your older camper to his/her appropriate room in the camp building. Anyone arriving after 9:00 am must park in a legal parking space and bring his/her campers totheir camp program location. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause. Parent/ guardians may leave once your camper is with his/her group. Afternoon Dismissal and Car Pool Unless you have an emergency, no child will be dismissed between 3:15 and 3:40 pm or during Shabbat. Dismissal begins at 3:45 pm and ends promptly at 4:00 pm. The first few days of camp may run a little later. We ask for your patience. Unless your child is enrolled in our after-care program, you must pick up your child by 4:00 pm. If you arrive after 4 pm your camper will be placed in our after-care program, and you will be charged $5.00 per child for each five minutes he/she remains after 4:00 pm. Please do not be late. After-care ends at 5:55 pm sharp. There is a five-minute window of error to cover time discrepancies. If you are unable to be here by 6:00 pm you will need to make other arrangements to have your child(ren) picked up on time. You will be charged $5 per child for each five minutes he/she remains after 6:00 pm. The JCC reserves the right to cancel services to any family whose child is not picked up by 6:00 pm more than three times. If you have an emergency, you must call us and inform the office prior to 6:00 pm. If you have not called and you are later than 15 minutes after closing, the JCC reserves the right to call the Davie Police Department to report child abandonment. Tipping camp staff is allowed and appreciated. Tipping is in no way mandatory. Please use your discretion. Thank you for choosing Camp Kadima. We know that you have many choices in the area and we feel privileged to have you and your child/ren here with us. We take the responsibility of safety and fun in the summer seriously. SECURITY Maintaining a secure environment is the utmost importance to the DPJCC. Upon entering the DPJCC, appropriate identification must be shown at the security gate. Twenty-four-hour surveillance cameras are located inside the buildings and on the DPJCC grounds. In addition, security guards are patrolling the campus during camp hours. To ensure the safety of our campers, staff, parents and members, DPJCC security reserves the rightto search all backpacks, handbags or other items. The DPJCC maintains ongoing contact withlocal and regional law enforcement officials to continually stay updated on security issues and measures. 3
